However, Guru is billed as an Official Fan Site. I'd imagine the majority of english speaking players come here. Logically, we have the biggest discussion base.

It may seem a bit harsh, but the easiest way to prove that he did get hacked would be to take a screenshot of his character selection screen and then a screen shot of the character in kamadan or wherever with his /rank followed by /age to show it is a new char..

Each western country actually has a cyber-police, which is in the USA a department of the DHS linked with the FBI and NSA, in UK the big police authorities have a cyber-crime department and the Computer Crime Unit, and France has the SEFTI and OCLCTIC (to mention the ones I know of, Germany is also very strong on cybercrime). Don't believe that reporting these events may not have consequences, there are many documented cases where this kind of hacks have lead to conviction of hackers. Especially in the USA.

I realise that, it's just that Government targets have changed how street crimes are treated. I'm just using hyperbole to express my opinion that it's going to be seen as a 'lesser' crime compared to other cyber crimes, like PayPal account hacking.

You're completely right, but year ago paypal was see, as ebay, as a very minor and small thing. It changed when the bad guys started winning big money and people noticed and took action.

But this is changing for MMOS, and it'll continue to change. Each and every reporting will contribute to that. And when we make MMO companies aware of the feeling (which is often more accute than the real thread, but still you can't disregard it if you want to make a business out of this), hopefully something good will come out of this.

RMT and hacking are the parasites of these games and lead to ruining our fun.

I don't consider it "silly" or a "waste of time". Although nobody here can help, people who report their stolen accounts here give the rest of us an idea of the scale of the problem, whether there IS a problem, and raises security awareness of those who have rubbish passwords, dodgy practices etc. I personally don't want to see people stop telling us their experiences just because a few unsympathetic posters on here attack them.

you might have missed the part where i said the missing rank emote was a joke. I was/am still devestated that this has happened. I tried to lighten the mood a little by cracking a joke about someone stealing my rank 6 emote.

I remade 6 of the characters today in Nightfall. Then spent 30 minutes trying to find a bloody taxi. Wasn't happening for some reason so i went off.

And i still can't change my password yet due to forgetting my account info on that other website.

Ramma if I were you I wouldn't try to rebuild your account if someone can still potentially hack you. I'd try to remember your account info and have your pass changed.

Hahaha...I remember awhile back I was on this website listening to this recording, and it was about some lady who had called the police because the people at Burger King had kept getting her order wrong and she wanted the police to go down there and make them fix her order. Ahh..that reminded me of that

But on a serious note: That sucks buddy, my recommendation is scan your comp with you anti virus, then if you dont have one already get a firewall. I don't know if others recommend this but I would personally take off GW and put it back on fresh, hoping it'd delete any bad files in the process and make crazy passwords that no one will ever guess lol. sorry and good luck to you, if you decide to start it all over again!
