Hard-Mode drops
Legends
Suppose I'm chasing Celestial Daggers, will hard-mode increase my chances of finding a pair of these daggers?

Whether rarer skinned drops appear more often in hard mode is a controversy that's been around ever since it was introduced. In my experience, the rarity of skins does not increase noticably, but the likelyhood of finding a higher quality pair (white<blue<purple<gold) and/or a pair with maxed mods is far higher in HM.

Like Fury said, the ''rarer'' drops don't drop more, they just drop as better quality.
If you want any kind of Celestial dagger, go NM.
IF you want a good pair, go HM.

I concur with the above replies.
Hard Mode, at least for me anyway, does give slightly, and I say slightly better 'quality' drops, but not that dramatic either.
HM is more focused as the description says.
I have done many vanquishes and have seen numerous golds drop but the reqs sometimes leave a lot to be desired but at least the drops are better than in NM.
Having said that, I think the whole drop system and chest system could do with an assesment and a possible re-vamp, but that is just my opinion.

Celestial Daggers only come in gold, so don't worry about the shiny-ness of your drops.
As HM is supposed to drop more golds, your chances of getting a piar are better in HM. Just try Vermin or Nahpui-mission farming.
However, a word of warning, I've done some farming in the mentioned area's, and a friend of mine a whole lot more, and he was farming daggers, but it tooks ages for him finally to get a good pair. Don't expect any decent drop (good req & damage mod) fast.

If you want specific skin that only drops in gold (like Celestials) go for HM and abuse the greatly increased gold drop rates.
In fact go for HM even if you want a skin that also drops in whites-purples, as you're going to get a gold one anyway (unless purp insc. is just as good for you)
Very few reasons to farm NM at all.

HI guys,
First check out the wiki to see what creatures drop them and what the location of the drops are that you want and if there are chests that drop the items that you want. No sence spending time killing oaks if they do not drop the items that you want when the fire imps do.
Then start killing in NM to confirm the drops and opening the nearby chests if you can.
I say this because I have been farming snow wurms outside Boreal Station for over 4 months straight now and this is my finding. Snow wurms do not drop Dragon's Breath Wands but the chests do.
GOLD drops from chests in Normal Mode give Lower Requirements than in Hard Mode. My toon is lvl 2 in unlucky title and I have broken my fair share of lockpicks.
That said the Mods on the weapons in Normal mode are not as good. A sundering Broadsword of deathbane for example might be Sword req9 sundering 19/20 Forget me not 19%. Yes I have gotten 3 of the latter....
So in Hard mode you are more likely to get a Broadsword of req13 and sundering 20/20 and Forget me not 20% than in normal mode. like 1000 to 1.
So for the weapon req9 go normal mode and for the mods go hard mode.
My toon has legendary survivor by killing snow wurms outside of Boreal station. (100xp in normal mode and 396xp in hard mode soloing) I have done 1 mission to get me to post searing and one mission to get me to eye of the north. Other than that I have no missions complete and I have almost 4,000,000 xp and have died only a handful of times
Recap Chests are best.

Gold (and purples too, no difference!) drops from chests in NM will have on average lower reqs than HM ~ONLY~ if the NM chests you open aren't "high-end" - don't count for Treasure Hunter title, key cost less than 600. All NM chests that count for the title have an equal distribution of requirements from 9 to 13, exactly the same as all HM chests.
And as for the mods, it doesn't matter whether a gold weapon dropped from NM or HM chest, the chances for perfect mods are exactly the same.
Clearly you didn't open enough or had some unlucky streaks.
