Hi everyone,
I just installed GuildWars and when I start the game it freezes. I just have time to see the title screen and there's nothing more to do with my computer. I have to reset it...
My computer specs are:
- P4 3.06 Ghz
- 1.5 Go Ram
- Geforce 6800
I've tried to update my video card's drivers, I've the latest DirectX version. It's the only game that I have such a problem.
Thanks in advance and have a nice day

Corrupted dat file if it is only Guild Wars that is freezing. If your temps are not not acting like a 2 year old monster, and in a total state of flux, you are safe to assume it is a OS bound. Remove the gw.dat file and download a new one via the -image switch.

Also, if your 6800 has any dust in it, try and remove the dust.
The card could potentially be freezing because it's too hot, I heard that 6800's run hot just like all the other high end versions of the Nvidia GPU lineup. And - Since the 6800 is getting aged now, the Thermal Paste on it could be weakening, causing temperatures to raise.
Cheers and hope you get it fixed.

You say that GW is the only game that you have a problem with - what other games do you play?
1.5GB is an odd amount - how is it configured? 3x512MB or 1x1GB + 2x512? Maybe upgrade to a pair of 1GB DIMMs - a reasonable idea in general.
Follow Bree's suggestion of dust removal - that can fix no end of problems.
Check in your Guild Wars folder - is there a file called ArenaNet (or Arenanet.txt if you have "show known file extensions" enabled) - that's a crash log. If so, zip it up and attach it, or copy+paste the contents into a post here.

snaek
-dx8 -noshaders -nosound -windowed
add these all
if ur gw runs, remove them 1 by 1 and run again
(remove -windowed first, then -nosound, then -noshaders, then -dx8)
