You can tame at any level with 'Charm Animal'. Don't mind the pet attacking you, it's over quickly. Also, any pet that is green you can tame easily, there's a list of tameable pets on the Wiki.

If you no longer want your pet, go to a tamer NPC (list is on the Wiki), and off-load your pet on that guy. Then go tame another pet.

rangers can tame any pets at any time as long as they dont already have a pet, there are certain animals that are friendly but cannot be tamed like the rabbit and moss spider in pre, the only difference between the pets is the type of damage they deal ie) slashing/piercing or wotever, the actually damage all pets deal is the same.

Dont worry bout asking questions m8, its the only way to learn.

But anyway,
Fairly sure you can tame anything at any level, max lvl for a tameable pet is 5 anyway, with the exception of a few lvl 15 tigers, lvl 20 black moa and black widow.

Yes you can abandon your pet anytime that you want, you need to talk to a Pet Tamer and it will take the pet from you.

Not sure if you have found it yet but, http://www.pvxwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page is a very good website for any questions you might have.

And from a fellow ranger, hope you have fun as this class.

PS.
As soon as you can, get this skill. Widely regarded as rangers best skill.

I believe the Phoenix and Rainbow Phoenix start at level 5, and are leveled as normal from there. How else do we get people complaining about their pet not being hearty after leveling it in Wurms?

You can tame most animals that are green. When you click charm animal, they turn red, and as long as you can survive their attacks while the charm animal skill completes it's activation, you will be able to tame it. If you are a level 2 and want to charm a level 10 animal, you might need some help

Once they are tamed you can't tame another animal, unless you give away your pet to a Pet Tamer, an NPC that will take it from you.

You can cause your pet to 'lock on' to a target until the monster is dead. This is done with the little (tiny) pet bar you can pull up, hit the '1' button next to your pet's name in the Allies part of the party window. You can also set your pet to not attack at all, and by default the pet is set to Gaurd.

Ok, i have also found , which might be useful for those who are also new and trying out the ranger class, when u do have a pet tamed, and go on mission or quest, u need to have the skill charm beast, showing or ur pet wont be seen or show , to travel with you = )
