Im getting a new faster set up but not sure if 64 bit is the way to go or not???? Wouldnt want to get a new computer and have to quit GW

Yes, I run Guild Wars on Vista Ultimate 64 bit and it works flawlessly, you will have absolutely no problems running on 64 bit.
Just stay away from Windows XP 64 bit, Vista 64 is the only way to go if you want a 64 bit (Imo).

Indeed, GW runs very nicely in the 64bit environment. It even likes my developer drivers, surprising enough.

gwdev.exe is the developers version of Guild Wars. It is where they most likely create items, build environments, etc.
