Addons

I hope so too as well. But something tells me that it won't be so. My hopes for gw2=no botting, no texmod, no wiki walkthroughs/builds *info on where stuff is, such as missions and quests, is fine, as is lore, but not walkthroughs and defiantly not cookie-cutter builds, and no grinding. But I know that won't happen. I just know I won't do any of that stuff, except maybe grind, but I'm not big on that.

I personally like add ons. why? because YOU CAN CHOOSE to use them.
So many people misunderstand texmod. they think its only for cartography and stuff, but it can be used for so much more. During Daniel Bladewinds last event we used texmod to change the town to have a more festive look to it.
Mods that make thing pretty/easier to use/user friendly = good
mods that are pretty much cheating = bad

Wow does not allow or support botting add-ons. It has however unprecedented UI mod collection.
In general, and based on all the current experience, any game that can (must) be effectively played by bot is broken. Look at all the grindfests where there are more bots than players.
If there's a need for a bot in GW2, it's a doomed game when it comes to playability.
Strangely enough, Blizzard (officially) allows multi-boxing (1 player running wow on several computers). As long as they don't use a bot to control the movement.
There is however something about current GW and indicated design features of GW2 that makes me believe botting will the norm since day one.

Guild Wars 2 is going to have an undetermined high or non-existant level cap which confers some (though minimal) benefit to players for reaching it. To the best of my knowledge, this is the official line.
That being the case, I suspect there will be at least leveling bots used and abused ASAP so that people can race for the highest level - and if there is no max level, then it will be especially important to people who want to stand out.

It's funny how no one understands how 'addons' work.
Considering how poorly coded GW1 was, and all the exploits that were found and abused, it wouldn't surprise me if there were similar things in GW2. TexMod will be usable, so people will get in on that REAL fast, but I don't see Anet writing some revolutionary code that stops people exploiting holes.
Look at duping, it was the EXACT same method as duping in Diablo II. What's worse, the Anet people MADE Diablo II, so really, Anet need to take their heads out of their asses and learn to code better, THEN worry about whether addons will be usable.

Back on subject..... Community add ons are a great part of any online game. I for one hope that it continues into GW2. C'mon the UT sounds (when it was still working) was some fun stuff.

Guild Wars 2 uses the same game engine as Guild Wars so any exploit that hasn't been found now will be in Guild Wars 2 as well.
However it is common for developers to upgrade the engine and try to fix as many bugs as possible, but Arena Net and bug fixing.....
So any addon there is now for Guild Wars will probably work on Guild Wars 2 as well.
