What to do with the loot?

I got prophecies like a month ago and have been farming for awhile, I farm Elementals on HM. Usually i just sell everything i pick up. I look at posts about farming elementals, and they say in like 3 runs the get about 5 - 10K, i get like 1.5K. Am i supposed to sell the loot to people or do i salvage every thing or something?

No. You pick up everything, and you id all the blues,purps, and golds. After you should merch and you should make something near 5k.

ID the whites to they will increase in value.
The cause for you making less money is the posts are most likely old and overfarming has caused quality to be reduced by anet(aka the farming code) to lower the value of the run so that the gold coming into the community is not off set. Even though we all know that the difference in the rich to poor gap between players is ridiculous.

Well I guess 3 runs making 10k is exaggeration. Don't forget you can also id your whites, which will increase their value a little.

if i were you ild Id everything BUT golds and sell then, no rare skins will drop for you there and proph itens dont have inscriptions/shields,focus cant be moded and 7 unid gold itens go for 4,5-5,5k these days.

you can keep your golds and not ID them. If you save up a lot of golds (say 50) I've seen people buy them unid'd at 1k each. good luck.

identify everything everything and merch it , maybe keep golds u can sell 7 for 5 k nowdays pretty much good

If you do id the golds look out for perfect mods which you can usually sell for 500g-5k.
