Friends List Tag Colours.
munky
ok so we all know that if you are in a guild with someone and you look at their tag it's gold, not the normal green. what if they did that for friends list too.
say you have a friend, you are not in the same guild or alliance, and you want to find them conveniently whenever you are in the same crowded outpost. as for what color to make the tag i am not sure, custom if that is easy enough?
if this was done you could find whoever you where looking for by press ctrl, instead of having to type there name in, then self invite.
Edited by Celestial Beaver: Changed thread title to something more relevant. Oh, and please don't encourage lazyness on this forum. Always search before posting.

Yes, this is a good idea.
Yes, this has exact idea has been suggested before.
Yes, you are lazy for knowing search existed yet refusing to use it.

i feel its too late to be trying to add more features into the game, as all its doing is slowing the devolopment of guildwars 2

true majikmajikmajik it might slow it down, but not by much if at all , and honestly you don't see them already still working on guild wars 1? Zaishen title, new tonics, new minis, ect. (I am not saying they where bad ideas just proving a point)
honestly if they don't either release guild wars 2 soon, or improve guild wars 1. they might lose some people's interest.
(ya i know this alone won't really help that too much, but why not?)

Every in game decision, make a topic about it. You guys are just getting too comfortable around here |

I actually think the idea is ok, but I have no idea how complex it would be to add into the game.
I feel GW:2 will draw a lot of older "retired" players back, either out of loyalty, or curiosity. Everyone accepts GW:1 is not even a fraction of what it was before, and those who it bugs especially have gone elsewhere. It doesn't mean they wont be back to try GW:2.

i fond something like "it might take up to much server space to do that for everyone's friend list", but really woulden't they just have to implement the same feature that changes guildies tages? what i am thinking is that that feature works off of the guild list/roster. so why not make it work off friends list. I could have no idea what i am talking about. (I am sure I don't really)
if someone that knows could comment that be cool.

I've got a question though. What if the friend isn't in a guild?
munky
was just thinking about that, an extra tag or something? like a solid block of color. Anyways this is an issue with the idea i guess, so if anyone has any other suggestion for this situation, would like to see them.

While we are at it, why not do the same for team members, too? Oh wait, we can just double click their names in the party box and find them. Nevermind. Lol! But seriously, I like the color tag friends name idea and I hope they can at least put it for GW2.

They put a fade on the names, so i can't imagine it being more than changing a few lines of code....

Already suggested, and, as always this is how I think it should be:
- Guildies: Golden tag (current color).
- Allies: Silver tag (a slightly bluish gray)
- Firends: Copper tag (a red with shades of gray)
- Friends with no guild tag: (Friend) copper tag. With parenthesis instead of brackets.

Dumb question, but what if someone meets the criteria of both being in friend list and is either in guild or alliance?
For a while I was keeping alliance leaders on friend list just so I could contact them if needed. Usually keep of few of the friends from my guild in friend list too (even though I can also track them on XFire).
