Tell me please, which one of these names is unacceptable?

I just got a freaking 72 hour ban for having an unacceptable name. I'll list here all 12 character names i have on my account, LET'S SEE IF WE CAN FIGURE OUT WHICH ONE IS FOR SOME UNGODLY REASON "OFFENSIVE", shall we?!

...The only thing i can even remotely relate to this is "Explicit Sadist". There's no way that's considered offensive? How would that even offend anyone? I wouldn't want to offend anyone... There is NOOOOO WAAAAAAAY that many carebears reported my Elementalist from the mere 30 minutes i afk'd in Eye of the North yesterday.

Lol! Sorry to hear of your troubles... I don't find any of those names offensive. Though I suppose any name with "Explicit" in it it insured to get 100% more attention from people. Also, it might be just me, but it seems like Anet has stepped it up a notch recently with bans... the other day a friend of mine was banned for 72 hours for spamming /dance in the guild hall... there was a little party going on and apparently he lost control... Wouldn't it be nice if Anet could monitor our daily activities to make sure no one dances excessively?

Hell, there's even a skill with "Sadist" in it. It's got to be that name cause it's the only one that's even 1% offensive.

A guy with the name "Brawling Headbutt" got a 72 hour ban for the same reason. Yes, Brawling Headbutt.

So, no. They, whoever is giving the temp bans, are not very good at this. But at least people who do have bad names are getting what they deserve. That'd be the only solace one could get from this, though.

Well that's all i needed to hear, i quit Guild Wars, it's been a fun 3 years. This is the most out of control ridiculous shit i've ever seen. Wow, what a failure.

I say this because a guildie of mine got reported for having an "offensive" name. Name in question? Jehovah's Waitress. Guess who reported him? A real-life Jehovah's Witness. -_-

All the reporter did was ask if the guildie was a Jehovah's Witness in real life. He said "no." Next thing he knows, he's got the temp ban with forced name change.

On a side note, I personally think you saying you'll quit game over a temp ban is a bit excessive. As someone else said, when the ban is lifted, you will know which name was flagged and be given the option to change it.

Now, if you were hacked or banned for life, then that warrants quitting game for good.

It might have been Falllen From Grace. Being somewhat related to religion, somebody might have been offended. How? I don't know lol, use your imagination.

Damn that's rediculous, I'm really sorry to hear of that. Makes me lose a bit more faith in ANet and their customer relations...I mean when you get banned for a name that's already in the game (Brawling Headbutt is a prime example) that's just hypocrisy on an epic scale.

I really wonder what's going on with ANet these days...hacking of accounts seeming to become more and more rampant, apparently random name bans and still no word from them on any of it, not even an update on how GW2 is coming along. Sometimes I wonder if they even still go to the office.

Hmm i didn't think of the Nihilist one. Just in the everyday-usage pop-culture reference, i didn't think Nihilist to be that big a deal. The dictionary definition makes it sound totally evil, haha. Although that is a PvP character going on a year, i'd rather that be the name in offense than Explicit Sadist. Explicit is my 2 year old ele, and her name is one of my favorites. I'd have no problem deleting the PvP, i don't really need another whiptail anyways.



Either way i'm still not going to continue playing this game and subject myself to completely random, nonsensical, and unjust bans at the unfair discretion of whoever is handing out these ridiculous bans. Can't be care-free even when you're following the rules.

I hate to say I told you so...but read the thread that asks if you have been banned for your name. ANet is catering to whiny snots who wanna bitch about every little freaking thing....grrrr.

People who /report those kind of names need to /getafreakinlife. Seriously.
I absolutely beleive they have gone too far and ANet is not putting any thought into their "sole discretion" as to which names are banned from the /report list. They have put the power into the hands of the whiny little bitches who are waaaay over sensitive. I said it before...the game is rated T, the carebears need to go frag themselves and leave the rest of us alone to enjoy the game.

That's where things get complicated, and where I can make up random stuff to say why such-and-such is offended. Let's see if I can think of something off the top of my head...

"I find the name Heaven Tonight offensive because it sounds like a strip club, and we should never use the holy resting place of the father in such a degraded manner."

See? That's why I find this report system so dangerous, but in the end worth it.
