How to beat Rragar's Zoo of Death, HM
mazey vorstagg
Both times I've taking a break from GW recently this dungeon was the last thing I did. It broke me both times. First I hit 60% on the first mob, 2nd time I made it to the second floor using 2 powerstones but had to give up there because I couldn't beat the first mob on that floor and had no stones left.
How can I beat this dungeon? Just farm until I can buy ~10 powerstones and consume my way through? I'd rather do it more elegantly if it's possible.
If you've got any team builds, tips and the like please tell me.
Btw, I'm an Ele and I very much doubt I'll be able to find any other humans. So it'll be just me and the H/H.
Thankyou very much

I've completed it with h/h on my warrior. I don't remember having any difficulty at all with it. I haven't attempted yet on my ele.
My warrior was running a triple chop axe build along with Pain Inverter and the Ebon Vanguard Assassin. I was using Sabway for the heroes and I honestly don't remember which henchies I took, but they probably included Cynn and Mhenlo.
What build were you running when you attempted and what builds did you have on your heroes? Perhaps we can offer suggestions on build improvement.

Well, I'm an Ele nuker and I finished this a couple of times in HM. While it can be done without them, it is a lot easier with consets, especially the first groups. I used Sab's 3 necro builds for my heroes. (Do a search in the forums) With all the Charr, a minion master really helps. Just stay behind the minions as you are nuking. Try and aggro 1 group at a time and go slowly.
Btw, I never have a hard time finding groups to go with as an Ele. Ironically, I do better with H and H, than with PUG's.
As far as henchies, take the Interrupter, 1 healer, 1 Warrior and another attack henchie. I, also, took Pain Inverter and the Ebon Vanguard Assassin.

Well, the build I used was most likely
[skill]Ash Blast[/skill][skill]Earth Attunement[/skill][skill]Eruption[/skill][skill]Obsidian Flame[/skill][skill]Unsteady Ground[/skill][skill]Armor of Earth[/skill][skill]Ward Against Melee[/skill][skill]Ebon battle standard of courage[/skill]
And I was running Sabway with Menhlo, Lina, Devona and Cynn. That's pretty much what I always have.
TheRaven- I'll add you ingame and if you're on i'll give you a nudge when I'm setting off

Ok, I look forward to working with you. I can't really comment much on your build, because I've never played a geomancer much. My ele is almost always a fire ele. (Just can't beat pure raw fire damage!)
The only thing I'd suggest is adding Pain Inverter if possible.
My playing times are usually from 8-10pm EST so if you want to team up it would be best to catch me as close to 8pm as possible. I know this dungeon may take a bit of time. I have to get up and go to work at 5am so I'll stay on as late as 11pm, but after that I gotta hit the bed. Fridays and Saturdays are more flexible (but not sure a bleary eyed wammo will help you much at 1am on Saturday morning.)

If you get any fleshreaver morsels drop for you, save them and feed them to Blobby. It'll become a mesmer ally for you.

If the rez sigs and hard rezzes are the problem (ie, you can kill a few of them, but they rez so fast you get overwhelmed) then bring Frozen Soil on a ranger or /R.
Proper pulling is important.
I was going to suggest an obsidian flesh tank, but the rangers have savage shot. And it's a long walk to test a theory.
BHA is always good when you have high damage spellcasters.
Maybe speccing into water for Ward Against Harm might help too.
If you have Frozen Soil up, then I would target the flameshielders first, then the prophets/menders then the dominators or defilers. This assumes you have decent anti-melee skills in your team (reckless haste, enfeebling blood, throw dirt, etc) to protect your backline (monks and casters) from the warriors while you take out their spellcasters.

So, here's a prelim plan:
Me:

I'll take Devona, Mehnlo, Lina and Cynn too. I've got Secret Agent also.
What do you think?

I moved this to the GW:EN forum, maybe they can help you better here.

On my war I used Sabway but I dropped the SS for a b-surge ele with splinter/ a-rage. I was eviscerate then, not sure. My hench were both healers, interupt and wards. Basically just interrupt the meteor showers from the eles then go in and kill everything, make sure you kill the dominators quickly as well

I'm not familiar with the Earth Ele skills, but, I would remove one of the armor enhancing skills and replace it with an attack skill that targets a specific enemy as opposed to an AoE spell. I've found that unless you run as a tank, where you take all the damage, eventually you will be overwhelmed because you don't have enough fire power. High armor is fine, but, I've found you just die slower without eliminating the enemy.
I am referring to your original build, not the second one. I still don't think you have enough fire power in your second build. You still seem to be concerned with energy storage and armor. Forget that. The best defense is offense, in my opinion. Eliminate the enemy and you eliminate the amount of damage you take.

I'd slap in [ebon battle standard of courage]: +24 armor and another +24 vs. Charr is pretty sweet. And while we're abusing PvE skills, take the Support Sin as well.
You can bypass the need for frozen soil if you know the order to kill the charr in-their rezzers are not the monks. You'll want to use a kill order like this:
Dominators
Avengers
Healers
Flameshielders
The Support Sin is normally good enough to gank the Doms pretty quickly. If nothing else, the Charr will waste their best stuff killing the sin, giving you an easier time. If you're unlucky to get a group with both Doms and Avengers, kill the Doms first and then gank the Avengers when they use Flesh of my Flesh. The Doms won't have hardly any energy to rez the Avenger again and at best they'll be at half health, making an easy kill. You'll need to be able to switch targets fast though for that (or have massive AoE).
I also recommend using the upgraded Jagged MM-the one with Dwayna's Sorrow for more healing.

There are only three difficult mobs in the entire dungeon; the very first Charr mob that has a dominator with a hard rez and a solid monk; the large fleshreaveer mob at the start of level 2; and the flesheater(s) in level 3 that do ridiculously high AoE damage with their death magic skills.
In each case, fight at the edge of the mobs' pulling range, and bring heroes that can spike targets down quickly. Bring as much AoE weakness and blinding you can afford because the fleshreavers can do 300+ damage with Chest Thumper.
The final bosses are trivial if you fight them from behind the rock/tree thing.
Bring Frozen Soil if you can afford the space, but it is not as useful as in Vloxen or Slavers'.

(Odd, I'm sure I posted a message)
Anyway, I'm happy to help (IGN: Takeko Nakano). I also have a few fleshreaver morsels so we can get that blob on our side!

Hmm, just tried again.
I did better this time, I had an armor of salvation and 2 powerstones.
My build was great for the charr, most of the time the mobs died easily and fast. However the Fleshreavers and the ooze were my undoing. En mass those ooze just spike a whole team down very easily.
So I reached the door to the third floor, but had a whole team 60% there and no more powerstones.
Gosh, this is a frustrating dungeon

wow really? lol this really isnt very hard.
If you are failing that badly, I'd suggest you play obflesh tank. Grab all the aggro, use something like grasping earth, and then have 3 SH ele heroes destroy everything (you'll have to lock them on the right target for glyphsac+MS and then SH).
Another choice is to bring dp removal... though I can't remember wiping ever when I H'hd this

Gosh, this is a frustrating dungeon Oozes can be taken care of with interupts and protting. Fleshweavers you can't do much about-just do what you normally do on the Charr-target the healers (fleshreaver hounds I think they're called) first as they like to throw around [scourge healing] which will kill your healers in no time.
And Sacratus-that strategy is SOOOOOOOO 2006

Having an imbagon or SY war would help too
Hmmm, if you still need to do it I can help out.

There's also an alternate path on the first floor we used last time that bypassed the oozes, but for the life of me I can't fully remember it.
Perhaps I just need to redo it-maybe that'll jiggle something loose.

I don't understand why you are having so much trouble. With the oozes, try running behind your minions, so they can't get to you, and then take them out.

For Rrager's there's an alternate path you can take that'll avoid the oozes. Here's a screen of it:

just did it with guildteam
took us two hours
luckily for them i got my powerstones with me
so a few cons later we made it to get crap out of the chest
