Weird Graphics Problem
Karate Jesus
About 2 weeks ago, I got a new monitor. After I hooked it up I tried playing Guild Wars and the graphics didn't work. It made all the armor look glossy and strange and the ground look weird.
So, I hooked back up my old monitor and it still looks the same. I tried re-installing GW and my drivers and the monitor, but nothing has worked. Can someone give me an idea of what happened? (I attached a pic of it)

That's typically a sign of buggy video card drivers. What video card do you have, and what version drivers are you using?
Karate Jesus
ATI Rage 128 Ultra (I know, it's an old piece of crap). I honestly don't know what my drivers are, but the game has worked fine up until 2 weeks ago and I didn't change my card or drivers.

Updated my drivers...still looks the same. Weird thing is that my warrior's Asuran armor looks normal, but all my other guys have a glossy layer over their armor.
Anybody have any other ideas?

That used to happen to me with my old computer. Lowering some of the graphics settings helps get rid of the problem. Did you download anything significantly large around the day you got the new monitor by any chance?
I also just noticed that you're in a busy district. I was pretty much stuck with International districts for any major outposts (Kamadan, Eye of the North, Temple of Ages etc) until I upgraded to an entirely new PC.

The problem is that it HAS worked in the past but it isn't NOW. I'm frankly astonished it runs on a Rage at all - kudos for managing that!
A glitch on certain types of armor ONLY would lead me to think that it's a corrupt gw.dat more than anything.

Try running the game at the lowest resolution. And set your graphic settings to their lowest.

RAGE....128....oh..ah...mai...ah....Ghod...ah...Ne w...graphics...card.....

Maybe the problem lies in the fact that the card is, quite literally, almost 10 years old. To be blunt with you: if your pc is old enough to be running a chip like that, i'm surprised it can even run gw at all.
Fire The Nutter
Yup im surprised too but if it used to work and the only thing that changed was the monitor that isnt a good enough reason
Id opt for the textures in the dat file being corrupt (espec if the warrior armor looks ok but others dont).
Rename your gw.dat file as gw.old for now and then download a new dat file. With any luck that will fix it
Oh and it looks like your gamma is set v.high but that "normally" only affects full screen.

Mind you, if the new monitor's of a higher resolution than the old, that could be enough to make the Rage ...quit

Image your dat file and make sure it isn't a corrupted file...

Took my comp into a computer store. My graphics card just got worn out, that's all. It is old as hell anyway.
I need a new computer and graphics card, but I'm stuck until I get out of grad school or get a serious raise at one of my jobs.

Told you - Rage quit.
(Aw, c'mon - gotta be worth a laugh this time?)

How did you manage to get that working in the first place O.O. With my old rage 128 pro, I couldn't get the glossyness to ever disappear ever.

Don't encourage me - it gets worse
Sucks about that PC though. Sadly, it's of an age where it just isn't viably upgradeable - I'm tempted to tell you to look for a dirt cheap system to tide you over until you can afford a decent rig.

Something like that - no monitor, natch - you just got one
