E/A GoS+SF+Celerity+1att consumeable question.
Larcen
I haven't captured Shadow Form on my Elementalist yet, and since I've not even played it in Factions yet besides Kaineing Center, I want to know if it is worth it. I'm sure someone has tried this combination, so someone has to know if its worth the trouble, easily maintainable, etc. What I mean is,
Glyph of Swiftness
Shadow Form
Flame Djinn Haste
5 more damage skills.
+1 attribute consumable (Grail, whatever)
Essence of Celerity.
I'm no doubt going to see replies about using consumables being counter productive to farming, however, it if you can get two runs to someone who doesn't use consumables one, isn't that worth it?

absolutcrobi
problem being that is you are not a sin primary you dont get enough points in Shadow arts to keep SF up all the time and you just die.
And relying on a comsumable for farming is a bad idea.

i don't think you actually need the essence if you also take [deadly paradox]. you will need the +1 attribute consumable to keep if fully maintanable. i haven't tried it though, but it seems like it could make quit a few things quite a bit easier.
Larcen
Right, but taking out Paradox in favor of Celerity opens another skill slot.
When comparing ~10+ ectos to the weight of 2 cheaply made consumables, which one wins? I know the answer.

still its kinda hard to make 10 ecto...
and u can do that with 4 skills and not 5 :P

12 Shadow Arts, Glyph of swiftness + Deadly paradox + 20% enchanting weapon will NOT give you infinite shadow form. There's a little downtime of less than a second which is enough to kill you.
With celerity including all the above^ its possible to keep it up all the time.
Hope that's the answer you was looking for.

- Ganni Hmm. Consumables can push the 50% cap?
Glyph - 25%
Deadly Paradox - 33%
Essence of Celerity - 25%
Total - 83%
Of course -that- would work, but I didn't think consumables could raise the 50% recharge cap. Then there would be no need for +1 to attributes.

I was able to do it with 12 shadow arts + glyph of swiftness + deadly paradox + candycorn (+1 atts) so it's doable. you don't have much of a window though and it can get frustrating

- Ganni afaik you cant push recharges beyond 50% reduction , what u have to use is a Grail of might, that will give you 13 shadow arts -> 27 seconds shadowform 27*1,20 = 32,4 seconds w/ +20%
Glyph reduces Sf 60 seconds recharge by 25% and paradox by 33%
60*0,75*0,66=30 recharge
So a E/A w/ a Grail of might and a +20% ench has a 32,4 seconds SF that will recharge in 30 seconds giving you plenty of time to recast and maintain it.
If Celerity does stack w/ the previous reduction SF will recahrge in 30*0,75 = 22,5 seconds so you can mantain it w/ only 12 shadow arts since the SF will last 25 seconds even w/o a ench mod.

How well does shadow form work now on Eles?
ShadowbaneX
depends on what you're farming, but if you're just boss farming then you don't needed deadly paradox or glyph of swiftness. 12 shadow + 20% enchant is more then enough time to kill a boss, which recharges all of your skills anyway. Unless you're going to be wandering around aggroing every mob and trying to kill them, you don't need perma shadow form.

to answer the original question...no
due to the simple fact that, you need to use the consumables every run,
even if you cut of 5 minutes, your just paying for it every time you use consumables
even if it just celerity, i doubt you'll be plowing through that much faster than without

this could make the UW/FoW a lot more profitable. you have to remember everything in these areas was there before SF existed, so there aren't many counters for it there. With perma SF, an ele can now farm all ecto dropping foes in the UW, including aatxes which, according to wiki, have about double the ecto drop rate as smites. even one extra ecto per run makes this more than worth it.
Also with SF up you don't have to worry about keeping stoneflesh aura and obby flesh up. and let's not forget the most annoying thing about obby flesh farming--the reduced movement speed. just being able to move at a normal pace could theoritically cut 10 minutes off of the run all by itself.
yomamayomama
that would be true, but then your using multiple consumables a run :/ ?? ( i was assuming just one to last you the assumed 30 min)....
if you're going to use more than one than i still don't think it would be advised....unless you can clear most of uw in a small time 1 man....(the running around part could also kill lots of time : /)

The recharge from Celerity doesn't stack, so there is no need for it (except if you want it for it's other uses). So the A/E build with a consumable for +1 attirbutes works fine. Tryed it yesterday myself... I still have some problems at the Behemoth's traps though.

no. put 16 in earth+ a celerity then u have the same sort of thing as sf by using obsi+stoneflesh. more details on another thread.

Of course -that- would work, but I didn't think consumables could raise the 50% recharge cap. Then there would be no need for +1 to attributes. percentages dont add up like that, silly goose.

the point is to speed up the run. using [glyph of swi]+[stoneflesh]+[obsidian flesh] takes 4 seconds of cast time everytime you re-use the chain (not counting weapon enhancements). [glyph of swi]+[deadly para]+[shadow form] is only 2 seconds of cast time, maximum, and you have normal movement speed. even with celerity, you still have reduced movement using obby flesh. SF will last longer, so that's more time off of the run because you don't have to renew it so often. plus if you're late with stoneflesh, depending on how much aggro you have following you, you could end your run in the time it takes you to renew it. you don't have to worry about keeping track of two defensive skills with SF, just one.

Right. I guess i'm going to just break down and buy an elite assassin tome and find out first hand. Thanks again.

Although elite sin tomes don't really cost a fortune these days, there is no need to use one here since [Shadow Form] is extremely easy to capture:
Just join a PuG to make it through Vizunah, you will end up in Dragon's Throat; start the mission there, run past the first group of enemies to the next room where you will find the assassin boss with SF. That's a matter of minutes ....

Nope. It's quite easy. You just have to use the A/E build, and a consumable that gives you +1 attribute points (Grail of Might is the best) so that SF will last all the way on you.
