EDIT: i noticed that the image above still says: the next 2 spells....but i'm sure that yesterday it said: the next 1 spell...

It was changed to affect only one spell in April 17th update as a temporary balance for PvP... then it was reverted to two spells in the May 1st update... then changed to one spell again in May 22nd update (seems they want it like that for PvP, and didn't want to split off a PvE-only version that works on next two spells).

Granted, that could just be paranoia. |

The functionality has been in the game for ages, it is just more convenient than having to manually altering the Properties in your GW shortcut.

As for the update, i keep getting more and more disappointed with ANet with each one.
Players are now wishing for things for ages, some stuff is noted here so i wont repeat, but nooo, "were busy, were working on gw2", and then they fix 3 yr old bugs nobody knew were there, and add diagnostic functionality that again after 3 years of service support has never had less need for.
Sad...

they removed the clay bricks cause there was an exploit to craft stuff without having the mats and that exploit also allowed to craft vials of glass for 20g and resell for 30g, then go and buy chaos gloves and salvage them for ~30 ectos each, with a fast program you could get 1000 ecto in 5 minutes
