I Can't Get It Working Again.
Less Heroic
I stopped playing Guild Wars: Factions for a few months, and now it won't load. I've tried reinstalling it, but that won't work. Is there any way to get it working again?
Snograt
What happens when you try?
Does nothing happen?
Does it stop at "Connecting to ArenaNet?
What stage do you get to?

The thing pops up and says "Connecting to ArenaNet" and it doesn't load.

Check that your firewall is letting Guild Wars connect to the internet.
Less Heroic
Still won't work.
Icy The Mage
You could also have NOD.32 Antivirus? there's a special thing you have to do to disable it's hidden firewall that's listed on the official site, as I had to as well.
Less Heroic
How would I know if I have it?
Less Heroic
Anyone know?
Snograt
Surely you know what virus protection you have? If not, I'm guessing no :/
If you have an icon that looks a bit like a green eye on your task bar, you've got NOD32. I think it very unlikely that that is your problem, though.
Start up GW and click on the button that says "Test my computer."
This will run a diagnostic that, among other things, tests your route through the internet to ArenaNet.
If you can't even get to the login window, you need to run GW using the -diag switch.
Details to follow if you don't know how to do that...

I can't get to the login screen. How would you use diag switch?
Snograt
Ok, let's assume your Guild Wars is located in the default place, that is C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\ - if not, change the following so that it points to the right place.
If you're running XP, click on Start, then Run, and enter the following:
The quotation marks are important, as is the space before -diag
If you're running Vista, enter the same info in the Search bar.
If you're running XP, click on Start, then Run, and enter the following:
Code:
"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\gw.exe" -diag
If you're running Vista, enter the same info in the Search bar.
moriz
it should be:
"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\gw.exe" -diag
this isn't a website, so you only use one slash.
"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\gw.exe" -diag
this isn't a website, so you only use one slash.

Bah, too much forums, not enough sleep. Gonna edit that and make your post moot
Less Heroic
What do you do if you have Vista. I'm sorry I'm not quite understanding.
Less Heroic
I think my problem might have to do with McAfee.

Copy and paste it from this post.
Problem with McAfee? Uninstall and use AVG8.0 free and Comodo free for anti-virus and firewall respectively.
Less Heroic
Then what is supposed to happen?

Open GW, and select the Test My Computer option at the login screen, or whatever it says.
Once it finishes, view the report. Save it as a .txt file. Then zip it into a .zip file. Upload it to your next post using the attachment ability when you post your reply (hit the Go Advanced button below the quick reply box on the forum here) Attach the .zip file, and we can review it.

Well, I got Eye of the North and it installs, but when it goes to the loading screen, it doesn't load.

I don't know how to make it a .zip file.

I have the same problem and did what all you guys recommended him to do and here is my thing that came out

After installing service pack 1 for windows vista I had a simular problem, I was able to solve it by simply running GW as administrator. Hope it helps for you as well.
Snograt
That's possible.
King Bob - your connection attempt isn't even leaving your computer. I suggest firewall problem or, as Vehytin said, try as Administrator.
Less Heroic - if you're struggling with zipping, just send it to me as an email attachment. Click on my name and "send email to Snograt"
