I just started playing again after two years and only have Prophecies atm. I'm wondering if with the eventual release of GW2 is it worth buying Factions, Nightfall and Eye of The North. Please give your honest opinions based off your experiences with the current expansions and your beliefs of whether or not GW would stand on it's own up against GW2, or would the player base jump ship to the new game, thanks.

GW2 is at least 1.5-2 years off. Yes it's worth buying them. If guild wars didn't stand on it's own we wouldn't all be playing it; we currently don't have enough information about GW2 to draw any adequate comparisons.

We don't know what the player base will do when GW2 comes out. Like I said, we don't really have enough info. Anet are keeping the GW1 servers running for as long as there are people playing it.

they said that GW2 was gonna be out sometime early 2009, and that beta should be sometime in September October i think. Its worth buying them since u can use the HoM, and they add a new dimension to the game

i was in the same situation as you a few months ago, captain. i purchased and played gw when it first came out 3 years ago, played it for about 6months then didn't play it again till about the first of this year. i debated about getting the expansions but eventually gave in and purchased all expansions, bonus mission pack, basically everything. i don't regret it one bit. i've played daily and enjoy the expansions very much. i'm really addicted now. you'll find more people, better items and a better gameplay experience (in my opinion) in the newer expansions rather than prophecies. and as pamelf said, gw2 is still a ways off.

i'd say go for it and buy the expansions.

Am I wrong, or is HoM only good for Account Based Titles...not Chracter Based Titles??

I think its both, because you can add Eternal conqueror of FoW/UW, or legendary guardian or other character based titles in HoM.

HoM is for all titles, many like lucky, unlucky, Kurz/Lux, and most of the PvP titles can go in without even being maxed. You even get cheapies like a trophy for finishing each campaign and each elite mission, so "filling" this monument is quite easy even with one campaign.

In response to the OP, yes, it's well worth it to buy them. Even if you never played the campaigns, it's worth it for the skills and the ability to keep up with folks in PvP if that's what you choose. My favorite professions are Assassin and Paragon, so though it's worth it without the new profs I would highly suggest playing them.

there's no way its coming out early 2009 they haven't started closed beta yet that will take at least 6 months then you got open beta another 6 months so you got at least a year if they run in to no big problems
