Hi there.

I have a question about the Retribution skill.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Retribution

I understand its an Enchantment Spell, also that it removed 1 bar of energy regen, I can cast it on others.

What I dont understand is this:
While you maintain this Enchantment, whenever target ally takes attack damage, this Spell deals 33% of the damage back to the source (maximum 5...17...20 damage).

Does this mean, if I cast this spell on an ally, that when they get hit, I take a portion of the damage? Or does the spell itself do some of the damage?

Thanks for help

When the ally you enchant with it takes damage, some of that damage is dealt back to the foe who dealt the damage in the first place.

Go fight some Afflicted. Find a Monk...watch him put Retribution on himself, then wand him...you'll notice you take damage from Retribution just from wanding him.

Nope. It means that when the person who you enchanted takes damage from lets say an enemy warrior, the enemy that did the damage to that person gets 33% of the damage he did back to himself. You will not get damaged,

hope this helps you out.

good luck

Thanks alot! Not really.

as cybevenom says, it's up to 33% dealt back. When you watch the numbers, it's such a small amount of damage that gets dealt back, and it's capped. Not worth the -1 energy upkeep in my opinion...also...don't give it to a hero.

the spell is a maintained enchantment,u can maintain it on yourself or on an ally. The enchantment will revert 33% dmg back to the source of the dmg .Note its not always a clean 33% reverted, and it only reverts dmg incoming from attacks not spells,so it will revert lets say 33% dmg from a warrior´s hit ,but it wont revert nothing from an ele´s fireball.Btw this skill has the same function as Holy Wrath

This skill just takes a percentage of the damage taken and deals that percentage to the enemy. This skill does not reduce the damage taken.

You cold just try it out as the damage dealt by to the source is +1 always but it turns out.you could go stand naked outside of Piken Sqre and cast retribution on you and see a charr warrior come at you and look at the numbers. This was easy to do in presearing.

Yeah 600 not 55.

Holy wrath by itself will drain all your energy in a few hits.

Ive found most of the sustained enchantments are counter productive in most PvE situations. Their use only comes in either 55ing or a few other specific setups.

But please inform me if I am wrong on this.
