While we have a dye remover, it would be great if we could salvage dye from a weapon/piece of armor, even with the chance of destroying it. We have the same system for runes and inscriptions already, I don't see why it couldn't be implemented for dyes as well.

I know it may seem trivial to a lot of people, but I can't imagine myself as being the only one who has had to buy more dye with something already dyed somewhere in their inventory, and I just think it would be a good idea to allow us to recover what we've already bought.

No, it wouldn't be a good idea. It makes people think before using dye, and better yet, it provides the game with a money sink. If people didn't have ways to spend their money, it would get old and die. People wouldn't be able to make money from finding dye, as nobody would buy it anymore, they'd just use a 'salvage kit' on it and use it again.

Since it has the properties of both dye and paint and no matter how many dye bottles are mixed the volume remains the same while the bottles dissapear.

You could argue it isnt normal dye as we know it.

Since dye isnt just dye but some kind of magical substance it would seem possible to extract it from an item.

never bought dye never sold dye
Just by playing the game I have between 40 and 50 of all the common colours and near double figures in the rest.
Never thought it as much of a money sink for the majority of players just the elite armour fashion victims.

Just wondering, couldn't the exact same argument be made for rune salvaging?

because dye drops much more often than runes for your armor.

No thanx, runes make sense being able to extract them by salvaging the part of the armor with the rune on it.

Dye however becomes imbedded in the clothe and is impossible to remove which is fair enough.

Also, I have enough dye's as it is, please dont remove my way to waste em

So your argument is based on realism. There are tons of unrealistic aspects in the game...

This has been suggested a ridiculous number of times before, all with a resounding /unsigned...

I have an "Old School" dye combo on one of my Characters that I can't duplicate with the new system (or even get pretty close), so I've been very, very reluctant to dye it something new. Now, a "dye extractor" thing would be a wonderful thing for this situation. BUT extracting dye doesn't make any sense and there's PLENTY of dyes available at low prices (you can even make faux black with the right combo of common dyes). Sooo.....

I dont see why not. One can always choose not to use a feature that exists but not vice versa.
Although I am 100% sure it wont happen.

what about the dye extractor gives only gives you a receipt, then you got to the dye trader with the receipt and he makes a custom combo for you at some price in gold?

Because anyone who still gives a damn about the economy needs a pretty strong pot of coffee to wake them up. It's over, guys. Why not indulge in luxuries?
