Just keep trying. The trick is to make sure all heroes have Shadowform up before they meet anything. This means flagging and casting Shadowform quickly at the start.
If you're managing that, you should not have problems. Henchies can get stuck if you don't flag them right, this just takes practice. Occasionally one of your heroes will get body blocked by the first mob, but with the now un-nerfed Shadow form (and a weapon with +20% enchantment durations), even this is not usually fatal and they'll get away in time.
Top tips:
1) use texmod and the HFFF mod - it puts dots on your u-map where you need to flag.
2) Zoom your u-map one click to make it easier to place your flags quickly and accurately.
3) assign keys for bringing up your hero flags - this greatly cuts down the amount of mouse movement needed to flag your heroes, and makes it much faster at the start.
You should be able to get the hang of it.
Then, to speed things up take "Charge" on your own skill bar, and use it before you begin flagging - this gives your heroes and henchies a running start. Also, assign keys for at least some of your heroes' skills, or you might end up with RSI in your mouse hand.
The overall time for each run should be ONLY determined by the speed of the hero that runs the furthest (the one you have to flag twice). Prioritise this hero, and make sure that one has Dash or a +33% running skill up at all times. You can put Troll Unguent on this hero at first - they will only use it when they stop running ie. they reached the first flag. This helps you figure out the best time to set their second flag (you want to set it BEFORE they stop running ie. just before they use Troll Unguent)
By the way, I use all 3 Ranger heroes. Shadowform, Dash, Dodge, Zojun's haste, Troll Unguent. 12+1+1 expertise, 12 Shadow Arts. They all have +20% enchant weapons.
It goes like this at the start for me: Charge! flag-flag-flag-flag, SF-SF-SF... this must be done quickly so SF is up on the heroes before they meet anything. Then a new running skill each time one runs out. Dash as often as possible, but you'll need to let some of the other running skills reach their full duration or your heroes will spend time walking while skills are recharging.

On 2nd thought the link I posted probably crosses the line. Stick to TexMod for accurate flagging.

Since this thread is aptly named, I'll post my problem here rather than make a new one. I only recently started HFFF'ing, and I can do it most times without a problem. However, sometimes this happens: I send my stairs runner to the island en route to the stairs. They should only use Feigned Neutrality when they reach the first flag, right? So right after I see the hero use it, I redirect the flag to the stairs. Then, for some reason, after a couple of seconds I'll see the hero run back towards me, and either get stuck in a mob or run back and forward between me and where the flag's been posted. Why does this happen? It's really annoying... if only there was a way to see where they were on the mission map.

I'm not sure why this would happen, but I would guess that if a hero bumps into an enemy on the way that 'stops' them for a half second and they use feigned neutrality. Otherwise, maybe your flagging is slightly off. If you are using the FF texmod thing, remember you don't have to flag heroes on the stairs dot, the shoreline directly west of the dot works fine as well.

I've been waiting for SF to run out then re-flag the hero, seems to work better, and by the time it recharges is when I take the quest/reward. *So far* there's been no problems. Maybe I was re-flagging too early?

Here's my youtube video. It might help.

Once again, no need for a new thread and I think this belongs in AI more than farming. Ok, I've had about an 80% success rate using Anton, Margrid and Pyre, Margrid is my marathoner (will use Jin instead of Anton once I get her up to 20.) In any event, I flag Margrid to the stairs, and about 10 seconds later I note that her name is unblurred in the party window and she's running straight at me. She usually dies before she gets to me and I send Pyre and Anton to do the stairs, but that is simply inefficient! Anyone ever see that before?

Usually it means that you planted it in an unreachable spot, you also need to note that it takes 2 flags to do the stairs. The wiki guide explains that if you didn't know. Flag once at the water way between and then once again up near the stairs.
