Hey guys. Well, i would just like to say why does it have to cost so much? But, i seem to be getting my head around that fact, as i randomly decided to save up for the set earlier today! Up to now, i have made over 160k and have 5 ectos.

I'd just like to ask if anyone who has got any good tips, and if they could share them... Cos this is killing me

. I hear stuff like 'Farm Farm Farm' all the time, but i'm not a big fan of farming, but i know that it is the most efficient way to gather the cash/ectos/shards.

So please share your wisdom with me!

If you're ranked try to get into a good guild that does HA. Massive zaishen keys sell @ 5k/ea, plus hall chest drops. Lots of money, plus fame doesn't hurt either. If that's not your thing you could always do zaishen elite every 24hrs for at least 1 zkey a day.

Other then that i do not know what to tell you. Every way of making good money i've known has gone to hell by the players or gotten nerfed... so that's how i make all my money now.

Farm ectos. Once you have the cash (which you do) hoard the ectos. If you're interested in PvE HM FoW doesn't hurt just for the chance at good stuff and a couple extra Obby shards along the way.

Next month we'll probably have the Dragon Festival in Cantha. Do all the quests and farm any special drops that can be redeemed for consumables. Sell the consumables. You'll make a nice tidy sum then.

Of course this isn't that useful if you're going for consumable titles too. But sacrifices have to be made in the name of shiny armor!

Similarly, have a root through any mules you may have and look for unwanted weapons and runes on heroes you don't use and sell sell sell. If it's not nailed down, off to the trade chat you go ^_^

Those two tips have got me a few sets of FoW *nod*

To the first question, why does it have to cost so much: it is prestige armor. If it was cheap and easy, it wouldn't have any prestige would it? FOW was never meant to be quick and easy, it's something to "work" for. Be happy it's not back in the day ecto was up 10-12k. My 1st FOW set cost about 1.5 mil all told. It's relatively cheap now.

As to where to get the cash, I think you already know really, and above ppl have answered. Farm Farm Farm. UW/FOW. If you hate farming, do some hm dungeons etc, hope for an uber rare item. Farm balth, sell Z keys. There are lots of options, none fast and easy. That is sorta the point.

FoW is ugly & ovrrated ..

People hope they will become better if they have it ;

only FoW worth buying is : Ritualist [looks nice ; ] and Dervish female . Mabye the paragon pieces in combination with some vabbian or some other sets .

Because it's ment to be "The most elite of elite armours".

You can easily get it in roughly 2 - 5 days now with the solo SF Chaos Plains build.

Anything worth having is worth working for.

Thus if you want high end prestige armor, you're going to have to put in the time and effort. I hate farming too, but I sucked it up and did it anyways to get my para his FoW set.

Thank you, saved me the trouble. You can make an assassin, get him off noob island do Viz and Nahpui, buy the tomes you need, get to Kaineng, take a boat to LA, get a run to ToA, all in less than a day. A single week of hardcore farming will give you enough ectos to get the armor. Since before Dying Nightmares / Protective Bond nerfs, it has never been easier to get ectos.

First the first time ever, it's really quite possible to farm all the ectos you need. Check the farming forum for the chaos plains perma-SF farming build.

This was the intention of the UW and FoW to take a break for pvping and go to these elite areas although it didn't work out that way.I would say that elite arour of any kind is over priced and to much Materials to get.This was good when the game was new out of box idea but it go beat game go spent time at ToA and nothing but except the occasional pvp event.This didn't happen though with the introduction of new campaigns new profs and not to mention titles.

It is no wonder that most have turned to gold sales as I would suspect that majority got theirs with bought gold.This wouldn't of happened though if prices were fixed eg. 100g for 1 ecto and the whole set cost 15K all 5 pieces.I am not saying those on this board or any other got thiers through bought gold.I have the materials and gold I just need the ectos and shards to get my Monks.

I wonder how players will get theirs when GW2 comes out and playrs are scarce and I would do it differnently in GW2.

Obsidian Male Rit is definately the best out of em all. necro is OK, not the greatest, but not bad.. Anyways there are better armor skins out there and if you are smart enough, you can make a nice combination. With 160k and 5 ectos, it will take you weeks to get it.. Its so expesive because that just what its specialty is ...expensiveness... If it were only 15k armor im absolutely sure not many people would buy it..

Farming it is. That or running, although both I did so long ago that my methods would now not be as relevant. Got a couple sets that way in addition to many, many 15k sets. Its been over a year though since I did either activity other than simply to do them for occasional fun.

As others have said, there are currently effective farming builds and methods in the farming section that could be referenced. I havent run for pay since early Factions.

FoW armor isn't something to be bought off a whim. It took me a good solid 7 months to farm and trade my way to get enough for FoW armor (back when ectos were a lot more valuable). Just scrimp and save and keep working at it.

Chaos Planes farming, you will most likely get golds from this, aswell as your ecto's, don't ID them, sell them in packs of 7 for 5-6k it all adds up.

Highlighted the main/only point worth considering.

While it's as cheap as it's ever been, it's still the biggest single expense many people will have in this game. Forward planning is required if you don't have cash to play with.

Don't tell me that W/Rt, W/Me, Mo/N, Rt/Mo, Rt/Me, E/Mo, E/Me, N/Mo, D/Me, or any of the other (very viable) UW solo builds are hard now, please (well, the Me mains seem pretty hard)...

...I have Terra Tanked the Wastes/Plains/Pits/part of Pools, Vengeful Spirit Bonded in Labyrinth/Wastes, tanked in 55/SS teams for Wastes and so forth... so basically any profession is viable (with the sole exception of ranger, which is also incidentally my main char's profession, and perhaps paragon)...

Assassin does not change anything... and especially not the buff to SF (since permaform blossom was already possible as A/Me).

Oh, and I think there are a few parts of the FoW armors worth buying... it is sadly the only Ranger armor that looks even close to nice (but still not very much so), for example. I like the Para, Warrior arms/legs, Monk, and perhaps Ele pretty much as well...

Farm, farm some more, get a nice drop / sell for 100k, farm some more, and when you've dont all that, scam some noob for all his ectos and buy yourself a fow armor.

It's expensive because otherwise there wouldn't be anything to consume enormous amounts of time at the end of the game.

If you want it, you'll have to grind like hell for it.

I like the advice about buying shards. Just keep selling your ectos and buying shards until you have enough shards, then just keep the ectos until you have enough ectos.

Good advice. You can get 3-10 ectos in a 25 minute run which adds up fairly quickly.

Use 126k of your 160k to buy 105 shards and you've completed one big milestone. Then work on 105 ectos and a few more to pay for the common materials and the 60k gold required.

It's supposed to be a challenge to acquire.

Listen to this advice.
I got my chaos gloves in 3 days and i didnt even farm that hardcore.
I started out by making the sin and level it to 20 + getting it ascended in faction. Get some help by guildies This took me 3,5 hours then get the hang of the farm and farm your butt off

its ughly not sure why anyone would even WANT to waste the time and materials on it....there are much better options out there for a lot less---and they look millions of times better than fow----

They made that harder, even just for the re-deux last year, by making it so only level 5+ characters could do the quests, and I'd be surprised if they don't take even more measures this year to make it even harder to farm.

Ok:

1. If you think Obsidian is expensive now, you're joking yourself. Ectos alone used to be worth 12k each.

2. Solo farm for ectos- I use the VwK w/rt build and it is not only incredibly simple, it also works great. I saved and farmed enough to buy Obsidian in less than two weeks of casual farming.

haha ectos used to be worth like 18-20k each, at least when i started playing.
Fastest way to get FoW IMO Terra tank or SF sin. Eles can solo Pits, Pools, Plains, or Smites do it with a group to get the endchest faster. Some runs you get 2 ectos, some runs you get 8-10. took me around a week or two to get all the ectos, then i got more ectos and traded them for the shards.
