Hello thar,
While playing in nightfall or eotn, I get ridiculous lag spikes and freeze for ~2min.
The pings range from 80k-140k every 5-10mins >.< After 3,4 freezes, my comp just restarts and everything is fine again.
My whole system freezes, not just gw.
I've defraged, deleted stuff to make space, and I know its not my connection.
And well, it hasn't really bugged me until now since gw is 'repairing the data archives' It cant get through repairing them without ending in an error >.<.
Here are my specs if it helps any:
eMachines
W3116
AMD Sempron(tm) Processor
3100+
1.81 GHz, 768 MB of RAM
Note: It only happens when it's summer time, and might be my comp overheating, but the temp is fine...
Thanks ~
Horrible lag spikes and freezing

Run chkdsk, sounds like you have bad sectors on a hdd, and delete the gw.dat and redownload. Might want to uninstall sound, video drivers and reinstall with newest since some vital files might have been corrupted.

Alright thanks, I'll try that now

I had a very similar problem in all campaigns - 10-60 second lags and freezing.
My ISP eventually identified a lost packet problem with their upstream provider.
PingPlotter didn't see the problem, maybe cuz the ports were different, and speedtest didn't really see anything either. Downloads were generally ok and web access in general was good. Only GW kept falling over. If reloading gw.dat and the client doesn't fix it, I would talk to your isp.

Sounds heaty to me too.
Also, I'd consider getting rid of your 512MB and 256MB RAM sticks and getting a pair of 512s, or even better, a pair of 1GBs.

Ookie, well I'm getting another video card and more memory soon, but I haven't had any bad lag yet...

But since I got fans on the comp, It doesn't overheat.

Download the free version of Everest and get more accurate temperatures. All computers have fans, all computers can overheat.
