About the same as getting a black dye from killing anything solo. Very slim, but not unheard of

There is a rumor that dyes drop more often in pre-searing but it is unproven as far as I know.

It's not that dye drops more in pre it's that you play solo and get all drops your self, and the diffrent items that drop are not as many.

the first part is slightly misleading because people solo farm all the time, but the second part is true. Thats why it DOES drop more often though lol.

Also, I'm pretty sure you could sell that little dye for more in Pre-searing to the Perma Pre characters. However most Perma Pre's already have their black armor if they wanted it so....I've never been too good at pricing.

I'm not sure whether or not Gaile said that Loot Scaling wasn't added to Pre-sear. Regardless, that smaller party size would mean that even if Loot Scaling applied there, the majority of the drops would still be assigned to the solo player.

They use it in place of ectos and to put their money after they reach the 100k gold cap. Not much else use for them there.

Dye isn't affected by loot scaling either way though. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Loot_scaling

Bandit Raid Dye Farming in pre searing is extremely effective. That's all i do with my prophecies characters before i bring them through.

Loot Scaling isn't in effect in pre sear or any beginner areas. Take any lvl 20 out in Kamaden(NF "pre-sear") and you'll get monsters droppng 95% of the time.

That said, I've got 2 blacks in prophs pre-searing out of a total of 6, no others in other newb lvls.

I heard a while back a rather plausible theory about why dye drops more frequently in pre-searing, if it does at all.
It was something like: Dye is only worth 1g at a merchant and so it is classed as a very low-level item (in terms of worth) and since you only get low level items in pre-searing, and other low level areas, you are more likely to have a dye drop.

I don't think its is true, I get 1-4 dye drops every time I do Chaos Plains so I can't think pre-searing would be better.

Rubbish

Chance of dye might be higher due to fewer available drops in pre. That's all.

It's pretty good. During the different weekends I've farmed the bandits/skales and in the last one I got 6 black, 4 white and like 25 other ones in 3 days of farming for a total of 20 hours.
I'd say the rates are pretty good.
