Any Dervish builds that could help me finish Mallyx the Unyielding?
nelsonater92
Ok, I have just recently finished the Nightfall and Eye of North campaigns. I only have Nightfall, Eye of North, and Factions.
I keep seeing people selling Ambraces of Truths and stuff and I wanted one myself. So I take the quest but I keep dying. One, because nobody will join my party, and Two, my build and my hero builds aren't working. I keep checking the builds on the sites and stuff but none of them offer builds I can use because they have Prophecies skills in them. So if anyone has any builds that could help me finish the mission that would be great. Also, if you have suggestions on which heros i should use and the builds they should have that would be great.

all you need is to grind your LB to r8 and ursan to r10
i ensure you that they'll take you on their run
if not, get a conset, then it's 100%

As you are a beginner in the area, your best choice is to join a group. For that you will need a Zealous sword of Fortitude, a Tactics shield of Fortitude, and the skill Ursan Blessing. Ursan is a relatively fool-proof skill/build and most groups use it. Since you have EotN, you should start maxing out your Norn rank by joining farming groups at Olafstead. I don't think you'll absolutely need to max out the Norn title, but the higher your rank, the better.

You're making your life too complicated.
[ursan blessing] is the only thing you'll ever need there as is the only thing with which you will be accepted in PuG's. And getting an Armbrace farming is no easy thing, as you need to become rank 10 norn, rank 8 Lightbringer to be in DoA groups, so that means a few dozens hours of grinding, and then you have to get in a good group and do some runs.
The game is screwed with [ursan blessing], but you have to live with it lmao.
EDIT: About the post above, I don't see why you need a sword, as axes works with the same attack rate, and why you need a tactics shield. And for DoA, PuG's always ask max rank in both Norn and Lightbringer. Going with a non-Ursan group is unlikely for the difficulty, and less unlikely because you're a dervish. Finally, it's well know that it's faster to fill HM hero handbooks for the norn points, although that requires you to finish EotN storyline:

Ursan Blessing.
Take it from me, my main is a dervish; no matter how effective, fun, or powerful your build is, whatever PUG you join in DoA will ALWAYS insist you go dressed as a bear. It's sad, but it's true.
If you can't beat them, join them.
And BTW, don't even think about using any kind of heroes for mallyx himself; you will die a very fast and painful death.

Eh, I just use a sword and I'm used to it, so that's why I recommended it. Axe is fine too. As for the tactics shield, I have a Dervish on which I use Ursan and I find it helpful to go as D/W and put points into tactics to get the full armor benefit. Of course, there are other ways to do it, but that's what I do. And I haven't been in a pug in such a long time that I didn't know they've become so picky ^_^. Last time I pugged they allowed me to come as an r4 ele, lol. Last, it may be faster to fill out the book, but I find doing the quests over and over to be waaay too tedious. For some reason I find the farming runs to be less so (strange but that's how it is )

People are to retarded to actually attempt DoA with real builds now that [ursan blessing] is here. It is your only real option these days.

this thread makes me sad
Bowstring Badass
It makes me sad to. But the sad thing is that [ursan blessing] is the only groups you can PuG in DoA.

it's also sad that ANet keeps on aggressively pushing their new expansions into the market.
factions gave the awsome spirit spamming Ritualist that got nerfed a little before nightfall came.
than came nightfall and with it the invincible Dervish and very overpowered Avatars.
most of these have been nerfed too.
than came EotN with these ridiculous PvE only skills with Ursan Blessing at the top.
I dont foresee any more nerfs though because there wont be a 5th expansion but rather a whole new game, gw2.
and here is the worst catch of all, you play gw now, you will want to move to gw2. ANet gave us a way to move some of your things from gw1 to gw2 but guess what? you must buy their last expansion to do it!
isnt this just great...?

Honestly, it's not all that bad - if UB weren't around hardly anybody would be playing DoA at all (at least pugs), and other areas can easily be H/Hed anyway.

yeah, but you cant play DoA at all unless you want to strap on your bear hat on your head, play follow the leader and smash your face on your keyboard.

Don't listen to these people. They have given up all hope of playing DoA without ursan. Join a guild. They will accept your builds without using ursan. Gosh you are a breath of fresh air seriously. p.s. I used Avatar of Lyssa to defeat mallyx for the first time
Sirius-NZ
Yep best bet of getting through DoA without Ursan is with a decent guild. I haven't done a lot of playing lately, but I'm getting the impression that the guilds within our alliance (GWO) aren't too bad a start as far as high-end PvE goes.

It's been done.
Anyway, areas like this require heavy preperation, or heavy grind.
With heavy preperation, you need to be skilled in the art of exploiting the stupidity of the AI. I'm up to Mallyx on my Ranger so far, but only in NM. In HM with a Balanced group that place is a nightmare. (50% chance of miss wtflolbbq, but the it's an Imbagon who got me there)
With the heavy grind route, grind, max and mindlessly mash your keys.
