Can you really be THAT rich?

lol i love these forums. game may suck but this place doesnt.

Someone's angry O_o. Or looks like it.
Anyways.
In all honesty, I don't care if I have cash or not until I wanna afford some random item. I'm nowhere near as rich as a powertrader and I don't consider my personal needs a good reason to start powertrading either... I'm not a gambler by nature, I'm NOT lucky in general and I want to PLAY the game, and not spend hours trading stuff (even on Guru it becomes a pain).
So I'm pretty much a farmer. That's how I got my obsidian armors, and the few rare weapons I actually like and bought from farming profit. I guess I take advantage of big farms like UW and DoA to make my cash: made a million in a week from farming ectos and selling them, started the night the perma-SF update went live, made cash outta DoA when the 600/famine/smiter trio became popular (less than my UW runs, about 700k)...
And yet, 100k's a decent amount for me to have in storage. Even lower if I don't have anything in mind that I want to buy.
I care even less about the cash other people have, but I'm not surprised that some people have stacks and stacks of ectos. Hey, if their fun is to powertrade, fine by me, really. Sure I'll find it impressive if you have a req9 inscribable Crystalline sword, but I won't be jealous. After all, I buy the stuff I like. You like your item? Cool, it's what matters.
But in the end, what matters is the general skill of the people I team up with. You can have a lotta cash and still be a pretty bad player... and if you consider yourself a good player because you have more cash than me, I'll find it pretty sad. (Just like I don't consider myself a better player because I've got 6 FoW sets... I just like farming >_>)

Rusty you just made my day.

I bought a Tormented shield on one account and leave it in storage, so I can let whichever Koss I happen to be out with use it, just, on the off chance I join a pug, to hear people say OMG/WTF - your Koss has a Tormented shield!?

Rusty... Dude... *Bows down* I AM NOT WORTHY!!!
And Kusandaa, your right. Being comfortably rich and knowledgable of the game is better than being exorbitantly experienced in one of the two facets. So instead of going out and killing someone... Just join in on the current farms. My advice... Get an Ele, a Sin, a Monk, and a Warrior. All lvl 20, with max armor and a collection of reasonable equipment. And start capping skills and buying skills...

You gotta be in the right place at the right time also. So, instead of spending hours in a dungeon farming, you spend hours and hours in kamadan dis1 buying and selling. Just like PVP and PVE, Powertrading is another part of Guild Wars. Maybe there should be a title for powertrading. lol |

I have never had a ton of ecto or gold but I can see how it is possible to get as much as some high-end traders have. I have done some light power-trading and was able to get quite a bit of gold. So on a bigger scale I can see getting 1000e+.
And then there is always farming, well way back in the days before the loot scalling, you could farm a good amount of gold. Two weeks of farming with my 55 I was able to get 400K+.
Everyone enjoys something different is the thing most people I guess don't understand. Like someone said, some people like PvP, some PvE, and then other farming/power-trading. I could sit in Kamadan all day and power-trade and watch the things selling. I enjoy it, I guess just making money is fun. So every one likes something different is the thing.

These forums are epic. I haven't laughed like that since I saw Barack Roll on youtube.

The key is power trading. I had 2 mil alone from power trading very small sums. It's pretty easy, just requires patience. High-end power trades can bring in stacks of ectos instead of a few measly thousands of gold.

I am a hero, the chosen,
Not even the frozen soil can keep me down,
Catch me in the fort selling mass gold weapons,
If you try to jack me see what happens,
It all started in a place called Ascalon,
Where a race called the charr invaded us,
Prince said "hold the wall or we're dead",
Couldn't hold it long to the south we flead,
To Fort Ranik, and all the people had panic'd,
The kingdom was fallin like the titanic,
You see, his (the prince's) daddy got a few problems,
Problem is that he can't solve em,
So he says you're no longer my son,
To the shiverpeaks bitch get yo ass on the run,
Meet the white mantle and beat the white mantel,
Go to the desert and flee from the scandal,
So that chapter closes to the arenas I journey,
Beating these asians in every tourney,
Guild versus guild since I own my own hall,
Spiking their spirits and smiting them all,
Salvage some runes,
And heal divine boon,
Level to 20 on all of my toons.
I take no credit for any of this.

I don't farm, never wanted that much money or the best items. I want a game i can get away from the Real world every now and again with great ppl i can talk to and play with. GW gives me this so why do i need money.

Well for those of you who are mystified as to how these people can all have so much currency legitiamtely, there are ways.
Here is a quick little guide about gold farming that nets about 4plats/hr.
Gold Rush on the Mehtani Keys
But yes, guides can only help you do have to put time in. Nothing is free...well, nothing legal!

Uhh..4plat/hour...I make that much in ~5-10minutes 55 undeads. Granted most of it is crap, but it is 4k.

"Well, it's no trick to make a lot of money... if what you want to do is make a lot of money. "
You could be that rich too if you farmed a lot.

And I like how people complain about the rich people on the game not having a life. It's not like money is hard to come by in GW. I know a few people who spend 2-3 hours a day playing after work and they have 4 characters all with FoW/Chaos gloves/various other 15K armors.
I've also had really lucky friends get eternal blades. ;( One got 2 of them in a short amount of time. ;\ that's a 1000 ecto.

don't have the patience to farm at all.
I just spent time getting to know the GW economy, and now I can make money in my sleep.

Aha,agreed with above,u need brain for that kind of things, not just knowledge,u need a to be talented in that.
If u look at one way traders/powertraders are scammers at one hand, there are kind of things that u need to sacrifice to become rich....
