Hey guys, I know that this forum may not be the best potential place to start a topic about this, but no other info sources provided me with any definitive information, so I decided to give guru a try .

My main problem is regarding the 60 hz vs. 120 hz refresh rate for LCD TV's. I understand the general pro's and cons for both, but my main interest is to eliminate the LCD blur which is given during fast motion, particularly sports. I know that the 120 hz does this and the picture does look better, but some people say it looks akward at times, in particular for movies.

As well, I have a relatively tight budget, that is it would be a pretty large stretch for more than 1500 dollars. The main models I'm looking right now are the samsung 650 series 40", but I am also considering the 5 series which is 40" 60 hz and 5 ms response time with a 30,000 -1 dynamic contrast ratio.

Anyway, the upper one is roughly 400 dollars more (the 120 hz), but I would like to know if it is really worth it, or should I wait until the price lowers like 200 bucks to a more manageable price. ($1650-$1250 or sois the price difference for the 2 models )

Some people say that 120 hz is just a gimmick that attracts people because it is "new", but I'm just not sure, and since this is quite a large investment I want to make sure I'm making the best possible choice. So, can anyone provide any insight please

I don't think you must have searched very hard, there are quite a few forums about AV equipment out there.

I really do not know anything about TVs but using Google I have found this forum, where I think you have a better chance of getting a reply.
