Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum and I have an installation question. Today I bought Guild Wars (Game of the year edition) as well as the Nightfall expansion. I put in the GW disk to install, selected "Install Guild Wars" and it went to "Connecting to ArenaNet" to "Downloading".

Here is where the issue starts. It then goes to "Connecting to ArenaNet" and hangs at 0%. It sat there for an hour before I gave up. I then attempted to install Nightfall since it's a stand-alone title (from what I read), thinking that maybe a different disk would work, and it gets to the same place, hanging at 0%.

Is this because ArenaNet is down or what? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks so much as this is getting hella frustrating.

make sure your firewall is not blocking GW. if it is, make your firewall allow GW on all ports.

Make sure ports 6112, 53, and 80 aren't blocked in your firewall. Also make sure your router doesn't have those ports forwarded to another computer.

NOD32 is Notorious for blocking GW from connecting to the internet, as such, there are recommendations and steps you should take on the main site to fix it, don't just disable your firewall.

It might because updating files is quite huge. Slow internet connection is not recommended. If you still got problem, turn of your Anti-virus and rerun again.

Port 53? Only port 6112 and 80 have to be open.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I opened my control panel and went to Windows Firewall, clicked Add Programs and selected Guild Wars from the list. It has a check mark in the box so that part is now okay.

This morning I just clicked on the Guild Wars shortcut and it's downloading and it showed 5000 + files. It didn't do this last night lol, so maybe it's progress! I'll let you know later this afternoon how it goes after I get home from work.

**update**... The game installed but now I'm getting error 058. I see in my firewall there is an option to add port. There is Name, Port Number and a choice to select TCP. I know to put 6112 and 80 for the port numbers each addition, but what do I put into the Name spot?

Thanks again!

It doesn't matter what you put for name that just to remind you.

BTW you don't need to forward the ports in the router to you, just make sure its not blocked there, or forwarded to another computer(this shouldn't affect it either but might as well check)

Thank you everyone for the tips and suggestions! It's WORKING!!!

It's currently downloading in the game after I created my character. Quite a big download considering it's probably adding all the updates since the game came out lol.

Thanks again!
