Scammers --> can anything be done?

yea i was scammed recently for only 1k, but it really irritates me that the kid pretended to be afk until some1 payed for his run, then he skipped the movie and started talking smack.

some1 told me that i could report scammers to anet somehow


can i report scammers to anet? and if yes, what will anet do about it?

idk but i have this ex-friend who scammed alot he called it hussling and i would like to report him, but where do Io.0

Yeah email them (I'm not sure of the email but it won't be hard to find).

If you provide screenshots and the like, they can ban or suspend the scammer's account among other things. I'm not sure if they can reward you the gold back, but that isn't exceeding their power.

they also have a permanate log of what happens with trades.

How exactly where you scammed?

i was running a mission
and some1 went "afk"
and he didnt pay
and when the mission ended
he skipped cutscene
and never payed

Just remember, take screenshots, and take them often. Anytime you have an interaction with someone that involves the transfer of items (weapons, gold, etc) for anything (services, weapons, etc) take a screenshot. Then report them - if you listen hard enough you can just barely make out their crying hundreds of miles away when they find out they were banned for a few weeks.

I run Beacons Perch to Droknars Forge .. as a matter of fact thats all I do in this game when I log with my warrior... Im so sorry to tell you guys I have notice a increase in the scammer population both sides ... everyday in Beacons I see ppl asking for "money upfront" , "because of the scammers" when the fact is they are the real scammers and by the other side also ppl who gets the runner to snake dance , grenths footprint ( entrance) or rankor and when they get there they simply dont pay .. forcing the runner to wait for long time( if stubborn like me who refuses to take scammers anywhere ) or simply keep going with that sour taste they are using and abusing you cause they know u cannot kick 'em from the party. Really bothers the fact you spent hours , days and weeks trying to get the run properly and ppl in a very low manner dont care about the party or the runner or anything , it is really frustrating cause they even laugh at ur face , call you words and do whatever they please . My patience run out today and for the first time I thought about leaving the game cause I really dont wanna play like this .. We were join by one char who was first AFK ( oldest trick in the scammer book ) then forgot his money at storage ( I remind him when we did the money check he has it ) then wanted to go to deldrimor warcamp ( even when was clearly advertise the run was to droknars forge ) and everytime we wanted to keep going to rankor he zone back to grenths making it impossible for me to keep going with the rest of the party .. I call that dirty blackmailing .. it is not only low , very low .. is also abusive and disrespectful not only with me but also with the rest of the party who paid and were expecting to get to droknars asap.
I think the way we have now to report ppl infricting the rules takes too long .. anet ask for too many things and it is a waste of time for everybody.( no thanks, I rather play the game than be writing , taking screenshots, accusing ppl and get in the "she said , I said" game ) ( plus if I have to report ppl everyday for trying to scam me as a runner I would be more time writing reports and taking screenshots than playing )
I think the only solution for this is the implementation by ncsoft or arena net of moderators or GM's watching the game in real time like they have in lineage2 and other games so whenever a little problem occur they can be there and take care of the situation without having to wait , write , report , etc etc etc ..

i've never had a problem with scammers... and i used to run all the time with my Warrior... wat u have to do is at the beginning of the run... say something like... "Everyone agrees to pay XXX once we reach XXX" then get everyone to agree... take a pic... if they don't pay at the end of the run then u have proof that u had an agreement and he scammed... send in the report to ANeT and let them do their thing

Well as for myself I get paid upfront or it's a no go. Oh I hear the whines, and the anti-trust comments. Makes no nevermind to me, these people aren't suppost to be at Droknars anyways in my book, so, if they are willing to cough up the money 4k each I'll take them to the War Camp and Droknars. That's fixes or solves any issues.

Main thing is not be in any hurry to do the run. Wait for a full group, that is 20k a trip and easily more than I can make soloing. I haven't been scammed yet this way. You either pay up front or you don't get a ride. Plain & Simple.

When you take an airplane trip you pay before the ride. When you take a bus trip you pay before the ride. When you take a train trip you pay before the ride. Local Taxi service you pay after the ride, but, this ain't "local" Taxi service, this is like a Plane, Train or Bus ride, a long distance. So the payment comes up front.

I look at it this way, they need my services a lot more than I need their plat. I'll get my 20k, many will not always find a ride.

nothing in the anet user agreement says if you agree to pay a player for something and dont you will be banned

Its not because of 1k, its because of ppl attitude, the OP was doing a service for someone and was scammed.

I´ve stopped run because of stuff like this, i use to thought than getting 10k in 1/2 hour helping someone was better than 20k farming alone, but now i just farm, ppl just dont deserve my time.

i know how you feel! i previously reported one scammer. you go to www.guildwars.com (official cite)
then you go to Technical support, there is several links there, one of them is Rules Violation (or something like this)
the only thing is that even if they take action, they will not report it to you. you have to know what area you were, who was there and its good if you got a screen shot

ok... here's the thing... if you run someone, you can't report them, and even if you do... nothing will be done because simply you have to trust the person. But trading scam can be easily reported IF you include all details like Where? When? Who? and include screenshots.

Honestly, I think ANet wont do much about scamming. If they did, there would be thousands of reports daily. They may do something about serious scams, but 1k is nothing, just a waste of time to them.

I reported 2 scamming and both accounts were banned. But I don't think NCsoft would take 1k scam seriously, suspend account for a few days could be possible.

How do you know there AREN'T thousands of reports daily?

I don't understand why Anet would meddle in this. There are so many reasons why that person was afk and left the group during a cinematic. Why didn't you insist that all party members followed your rules set, before you pressed on?
Anet can't see what happens on a player's computer. S/He might have been genuine afk, and his computer might have crashed during the end-mission cinematic. Or maybe his mommy called that it was nappy time
This will probably be ignored, and if Anet does something about this, you'll never know.
All those runners saying that they report people for not paying the run, are fake. Either that, or Anet simply doesn't have the time for this.
Give party leaders a kick option, outside towns.

Good thing people finally started playing this game. Unlike in the begining, with only 1 district of Lions Arch, and only 1 ID1 of the Tombs.
