Do mods really make private messages like this in game?

I thought it was kind of suspicious.

All the blackened out stuff are just irrelevant pms/drops.

No. That and mods have full real names and coloured writing that normal players can't get.

No, it's not a mod. Mods should never contact you in game... ever. If there was something wrong with your name they would simply temp ban you. Anet staff types in purple.

What the hell's an "offline PM" ?

Very suspicious - not a scammer though - more likely someone who wanted that name

Lol at "onconveniance" ^^

A few friends have had PMs like this before, reported it to ANet and were told that ANet will never contact them this way.

Interesting fact though, a quick google of this guy's name with "Guild Wars" tagged onto the search tells me it's just some 15 year old kid. I wouldn't worry ^_^

Probably just wanted your name or something o_O

I think I read in the EULA that immitating a member of ANet is against the rules of it. You should report him for being a moron.

True, I read that as well somewhere.

Eh, i won't bother reporting him.

I think i recognize the name though.

Some guy wanted to join this guild i was in, and there was no room. So I told him politely that there simply wasn't any space.

He spammed "INVITE???" several times :P. I called him a moron and he decided to get on another account, and send about five screenshots worth of E-Threats.

I reported him and i'm pretty sure he got banned. This could be his way of revenge? lol.

If it is, its a pretty stupid one. I'd just report him, let Anet decide whether or not they want to perma-ban him. At least then there will be one less idiot in game.

Impersonated Anet staff is against EULA. I suggest you report him, don't be lazy it only take 5 mins. Some newbies or those who don't know any better might fall for such act.

Then just report him again... wait 10 days (or however long the temp bans last) and rinse and repeat...

I guess he just did not take the oppertunity of the temp ban to further his education much though as it seems

Haha.
I had someone pm me ingame 2 years ago saying he was a mod.
He told me there has been a report of a scam and asked how much money I had.
I asked him the name of my account, as a mod should know that. -> no more messages from him.

Quite pathetic.

No, Gaile typed in purple because she asked for that color.

And since you have such nice screenshots you really should report this user to support. It is very much against EULA to impersonate A-Net staff. Of course, you really should black out the sender's name too -- it is again GURU rules to post those.

Nah, if this guy so desperatly wants to be mod, we sshould treat him like one. Endless PM's about how we think skills are overpowered, or underpowered etc.

I'm kidding, ban the guy forthwith.

Hmmm, actually a quick google search (Thx for the idea, Kamara) shows that he's a member of Zealots of Shiverpeaks. Personally, I'd report him to his guild leader. Please include the screenshots.

You know I used to have a lot of respect for that guild, but lately I've been hearing a lot of reports of their members acting like douchebags.
