I just realized this after I went to try and attach the signature I made. Well, here it is anyway.

because then 5 thousand members each have a signature will explode guild wars guru's bandwidth... i think, a guess., besides theres a thread where you get to post you siggy, in the absurds part of the forum.

I already have read it. I'm a member of a forum that is hosted by it's administrator without a donation system even working and they have almost 600,000 members. They have a lite surf option, but you can use avatars and signatures.

It's almost 200,000 members with any number of guests (it's about 1800 as I write this). I don't know about that other forum you're a member of but I'm guessing it isn't nearly as active as this one is. No, it wouldn't "explode" it but it would make it extremely laggy.

image signatures are one of the dumbest ideas to ever hit forums. It invariably becomes a mess of wasted bandwidth, wasted space, unnecessary scrolling and annoying animated images of Sasuke overlaid with stupid "profound" text like: "fate" & "my will is god"

People do have download caps and the loading of large and/or animated images can (and have, in my case) caused webpages to load unbearably slowly or even not at all.
Now, I'm not saying that allowing signatures on Guru will cause this to happen overnight, but it can have a detimental affect on how people browse the site (particularly the Screenshot Forum Threads). I personally have never liked image signatures, but text ones are alright. Nice little quotes from movies or books can be found in those.

Many people use image rotators, or flash, or animated gifs, or .bmp, or outright full screen sized images.
Then you need people to police the signatures...
Edit: Your signature as posted above would violate the signature rules on all the forums that I am personally a member of that allow signatures.
