Is that the title that guild wars has earned for its self? there is a mas diffrence between this game and every other game as there is a diffrence between every other game. But has this game fallen prey to the "farming" life of players where they spend countless hours away from the story line just to get the best wapons and armour?

I think so.

There was a time when you would follow a story line to se whats around the corner, whats on the next page or even whats behind dorr number 3. but it seems that as the character reaches lv 20, and the story line either is finished or gets boring players steer away from there "story line" to farm.

farming is all fun and dandy, dont get me wrog, i love farming dungeons and the EotN areas with my level 19 dervish/monk. but whats makes the idea of farming so special? is it the gold? is it the u8ber titles, weapons and the abillity to not be called a so called "newb" any more?

where guild wars is the best is with its builds and focusing on the characters fighting/healing style. bhut has that been enhanced or has that been lost on this "farming"?

so i ask you:

What is your oppinion on the idea that guild wars has become like every other rpg in the sense that: get to max level, farm for best stuff, instead of play the story line?

PvE is really just a fool's game. There's not really an endpoint to what you can do, so you'll inevitably end up doing something over and over.

PvP sounds like it's broken all over the place, but at least with so many players to face, you can expect some interesting fights here and there.

GW will pretty much be a farming game in both areas until GW2

To be perfectly honest, I don't care if someone wants to perma-farm for the "best armour". It doesn't ruin my experience of the game.

Why are people overly concerned with what others do when you could be playing the game yourself, however you want to play it? Surely that's all that matters?

GW2 will be built for high end computers (or so rumor has it) so people with computers that either barley or are at the GW level of compliance wont get to play (like me )

Maybe, but keep in mindthat by the time GW2 comes out, the "budget" 3d cards will be DX10 capable.

The question is whether or not Microsoft will extract their heads from their colons by then and get DX10 support backported onto XP. I'm not installing Vista to play GW2

the "budget" dx10 card is already available: geforce 9600GT/GSO

GW2 will have higher system reqs, but will still be pretty low. the (now nigh-on useless) geforce 8600GT should be able to run it very well.

They've continually said they want to make sure lower end models will still be able to run the game. I'm sure the requirements will be higher, but they aren't exactly going to pull a Crysis, and make it so 90% of the gaming population can't even play the game.

I played through the storyline, and I enjoyed it immensely. But, inevitably, there is nothing else to do in the game except help your fellow guild members or farm once you've completed the storyline(s) to your satisfaction.

So is this a topic about minimum computer requirements for GW2, or whether GW1 has turned out like every other RPG? Because if it's the former, they've said several times that the specifications will be reasonably higher than the requirements for its then four or five year old predecessor, but still available to average users with average systems.

Wow. I must be way behind the curve on the games I play. I'm still using a 7900GT and have no problems. ^_^

Now that I think about it, most of the games I play ARE old to very old. D2, NWN/2, Oblivion, and GW.

I might upgrade for GW2. I don't know tho...

GW's is dull now. I've stopped playing apart from 20mins per day where I get my 6,000BF from ZE for the day

I still stalk the forums here in the hope the next "xx/xx/xxxx Update" thread will bring me back to PvE but chances of that are about as high as England winning Euro2008.......0 basically

Some people choose to utilize the full contents of the game and go through every quest while others only give crap on PvP or farming aspect of the game. Not much wrong with that. Any sort of RPG usually has its share of farmers. It really is rather difficult to completely obstruct any sort of farming activities, although they certainly can be frowned upon. It's more of the issue with general populace's attitude rather than the game itself, in my opinion.

I personally believe most of the titles were meant for players to naturally acheive while playing through (Well, maybe except for LDoA).
Anet's idle players: "Wow, I just beat Nightfall. Maybe I'll do it again in Hardmode for the challenge. Hey, look, apparently I'm a Legendary Spearmarshall."
GW's actual players: "LFG ss/lb farming."

Because what other's do can guide the game. It's hard to deny the effect that farming has had on the direction of Guild Wars.

I don't even bother with titles, (hate them lol), so to me I think that it's not a grinding game. I do PvP (GvG, TA sometimes, and RA to mix it up and laugh at noobs). I also farm the hell out of UW for money ^^

I don't really enjoy PvP. Killing other people isn't my stuff, especially if I have to deal with their egos at first place - I'M NOT COMPETITIVE, 'cause I don't care for it. I'd rather play on my own or with friends... so PvE and farming are good options for me.

I always hated the GW storyline and yes, to me it was "just another RPG" game. Actually it wasn't really, since I didn't even enjoy the it compared to other games I've played. I didn't get into the lore, didn't care for it...

On the other hand, I loved the gameplay. I like killing stuff mindlessly and I'm dead tired of people who want me to play the way they do. Do I care if some people prefer PVP over PVE? Nope, they do what they want... neither do I care if people farm the same place as I do, a different place, a different way or the same way.

in any MMO the "storyline" or "content" runs out after about a month of playing. All that's left is farming and pvp. Luckily GW pvp is fun.
