Yes.. i was wondering.

GW2 is a few months out of grasps and for months they said "they weren't going to release new content until GW2". In this case people are very angry (like me) and then place a lot of pressure on the success in GW2. I mean ... it needs to be spectacular in order to stay on guild wars waiting for GW2

So guild wars players have two choices
1. Stay on guild wars (if not bored already) play the boredom out of Guild Wars.
2. Go on a different game and think of coming back to GW2 at its release data (but possibly lose interest in the guild wars 2 franchaise altogether).

If GW2 doesn't succeed and we waited so long for this game then the franchaise will undoubtably fail. They should've released this fact a long time a go, say after factions, and also why not put one a-net team on focusing pleasing the community players with spectacular GW updates while one team focuses on GW2, it makes no sense to focus all their attention to GW2 and then hope for the best for the community.

Please comment on what I have said, thanks.

gw 1 isnt out of hand, so gw 2 wont be out of hand

and you are right there are only 2 choices.. logical...

if they split the Dev team then gw2 would take even longer to make. time = money

do the rest yourself?

GW2 is so far away to even care about. I doubt we will see it till late 2010.

At this point, it's hard to say.

While we can't really tell how the game is going to be, we can think a little bit upon sales. GW1 sold amazingly because it looked really good (for it's time) and it had the bold words "Free-to-play" on the box. But with more and more games following this pattern, GW2 may not have the edge that GW1 possessed. ANet'll have to pull some tricks out of their bags for this one.

They have most resources spent in GW2.

They are trying to go over that. For example, they are planning to get a separate and unique GW1 programmer.

If you don't like Guild Wars, go play WoW instead, we don't need you.

If you're bored, try finding a good pvp guild

Im pretty sure once another good mmo comes out that i will jump ship. I thought about conan but i think aion or stargate will get my buck. 2 years is just to long to wait for a game with literally nothing new coming to it. Anet should announce that either soemthing new is coming (like a SF update or the BMP or SOMETHING!). Honestly i think they might lose a rather large amount of gamers

Moar emotive language, boredom and sensationalism plxktnx

Seriously, how many more "The End Is Nigh!" threads do we need?

Just let them make the damn game. It will take them however much time it takes to make it good. If you don't have the patience to wait, that's not the game makers fault.

Oy.

Maybe rethink that when you start to get bored with it.

No its not their fault but it is their problem, people only have time for 1 or 2 mmo games so it could be interesting to see how many people are lost because of the wait time. That being said in 2 years wow should be pretty much played out and maybe they can pick up a bunch there. Who knows

If GW2 isn't everything we've wanted, I think the whole Guild Wars franchise will die. It has to be able to pull all of the players who left for other games back.

Arena Net has loyalists/addicts so they have nothing to fear.

I will just buy Guild Wars 2 so I can add it to my collection of MMO's.

I came from the FPS game genre, because I wanted a more cooperative, less competative game play, and less twitch play game, and fell into GW. I think if I do anything I will go back to some of the good FPS games out there like COD4.

Its tough to switch to another game as you have devoted so much time and knowledge into the game. But having a mature account and being regular player, I think I am at the point of spending all my money and getting everything I ever wanted in the game as there is a sense of the end is approaching (maybe it just me). I have 10 toons (all different classes) and 9 of them have completed all of the chapters and 4 of them have done all the PvE things you can including all the elite missions numerous times, vanquishing and guardian on them. The piece that I enjoy the most with the game is playing with real people, but these opportunites have been increasily frustrating.

I wish the y would tell us what they are carrying over, that way we would know what to focus on instead of mindlessly just hoping were right.

Guild Wars isn't out of hand. It's fine as can be, however GW2 was let known way too early. That's what makes everyone on edge about GW1's "lack of concern" and GW2's possibilities.

The Guild Wars 2 beta comes out in a few months, not Guild Wars 2 game.. Ill probably play it just to give the game a chance, but i doubt i will continue GW in college, computer games aren't really my adrenaline rush. Its more like my advanced chat room, which ill enjoy playing for a little, but id pick Wii or XBOX 360 over PC any time...

I just started playing last year. I still have Factions to complete. I have also only done this as a Ranger. I have 9 more classes I can try.

Guild Wars won't die. It may stagnate, but it is free, and as a free product, there will always be people willing to play.

Silly premise for this post.
