You think they have people in game searching thru every name made or checking random chat logs looking for language or racism??

They ban people if they get reported thats all they can do.

I've played fps games that were far better moderated by volunteers. Comes down to there not really being a system in place for Guild Wars. Support can't be in every instance in the game and kick a troll as soon as they start doing something, so you're basically stuck with take it or leave it. And sure you can report people, but a days after the fact punishment system doesn't prevent much of anything.

Call the cops and say there's a guy on your corner telling raunchy Jewish jokes. See how fast they come. Why should A-Net waste it's time patrolling for retards? Honestly, I'm glad they're here and not elsewhere making a difference.

I haven't seen an aweful lot of racist BS / offensive chat going on, but when I do, I report it. (THEN I put 'em on ignore!) After that, it's in A-Nets hands.

They dont? That would be new to me... There are many countries which have laws against racism which can and will entail prison sentences quite often (temp bans at least). You might want to get your facts straightened out first before posting crap.

Racism is agains the EULA and Anet will react to reports of it... but you do have to report it first so they can even get a heads up on what to look out for.

Some people will just push for the border to see if it exist. One never knows whether they are dead serious about it or if it is just provocation.

Imagine you had to monitor a city with a population of 100.000, there is just no way you can effectively do that. But that's how GW is, it is a large place of people interacting and Arenanet has not the surveillance capacities of East Germany.

I don't get this. I have never had more than one person on my ignore list, and by contrast I constantly have to delete names from my friend list to make space.

Saying "it's the internet" isn't condoning people acting like morons, it's accepting that there will always be morons out there no matter how much anyone does about it. Type /report if you're not as lazy as me, then move on with your life. It's just some kid who just discovered he can type naughty words, not the Guild Wars branch of the KKK.

If you take the steps and pass on enough info to Support via a ticket, they will take action.

Saw a guy in LA blatantly advertising a racist guild, screened it, reported him, sent the screen to Support and he was banned.

Most stuff from kids in game rolls off my back, but this guild advert was terrible.
