It seems to me like I remember ANet doing some sort of contest and their being weapons that you can now get that players designed. I do not however remember seeing any of these weapons in game.

And the dryads bow which I desperately want. Most of them come from dungeon chests in EOTN.

Also keep in mind that that was not the first design a weapon contest. All of the factions end game greens are design a weapon winners, as are several of the NF designs (the forgoten sword and exaulted aegis were both designed by the same guy).
