Perma SF in short? Get over it!

Amusingly enough I've found it's the people that already have a set or more of obsidian armor and other things obtained via ecto farming, that are complaining about the Perma SF. I can see their point, based on how long it took them, and the expense used to obtain it.

The way I see it, the game is over three years old, and GW2 is soon to be released (confirmed September 09 for EBGames Australia). That isn't a lot of time to the casual gamer who actually has a life. It's a great opportunity for people like us to finally obtain our Obby armors, and buyable titles, thus reaping the benefits for GW2.

I've come up with quite a few builds using the perma structure (A/D being my favorite) for farming now, and solo accessing areas not possible before. I haven't heard anyone complaining about the Derv getting his Mystic buff back yet...or maybe they will if the perma gets nerfed...people always have to have something to cry about, else what's the point of playing right?

It's PvE ffs, get over it! I could understand the QQ if these were PvP buffs, but they're not! Boo-Hoo it's ruining the economy...I hear this crap about gems, ecto, shards, dyes, runes, greens, etc every bloody week. That's finance for you...it goes up and down based on what we buy/sell. If ecto goes down in price, so what? We still have many other options to use in place of cash, ie; Z-Keys, Armbraces, Sup Vigor Runes, Black/White Dye, Gems, Shards, and more. I've noticed the increase in Obby Shard prices, that hasn't happened in a long time. That's awesome...it's starting to bring back the Beach/Forest farmers...haven't seen many of those for a while.

I know I said 'in short', but hey...this has been bottled for a while now, and long overdue

P.S ~ I just noticed it's double points this weekend for all EoTN reputations. OMG we'd better put a stop to this, before people start complaining because it took them ages to get their titles the hard way, same with SS/LB weekends, and Hero points weekends, and.....yeah you get the point...

I couldn't agree more. The idea of a game is to relax you and have fun with it. Who cares if everyone is walking around with Obsidian armor and perfect rare weapons. There's plenty to go around and I would still use Primeval armor just because I like it.

Yeah, people make a huge deal out of it. The majority of people on guru are pve maniacs just looking for something to whine and bitch about. While what you're saying is right, don't get me wrong, it's just another perma-sf topic.

It's just like ursan. People will whine about it endlessly. Even if their little pve'ing prayers get answered and it is nerfed, surely they'll find something else to bitch about. It's the forum plague, the only thing you can do to escape it is just to avoid it. :[

It's whenever new something pops up. Ursan died down, but when that permanent shadow form hit, people just went nuts.

I had two sets of FoW armor long before the buff to SF and I don't give a damn what people do. It doesn't diminish my armor, I got it because I think it looks cool, not for anybody else. Although I do agree with you that people need to shut the hell up about SF, I don't think you are helping the situation. This thread only stands to instigate more trouble, complaints, and flames.

With that said I move for this thread to be closed.

We need a group of people who think like this. Then when ever someone makes a thread like this we all post...



We can also give them a simple reason why it's what you like, not others.

i won't spend my ecto for those Obby armors. it's look cheap! i rather go for those elite armors which better designs.

I care, because I have all my money in ecto, and as the ecto prices go down, I lose money. Quite a bit of money at that.

god forbid that anet doesn't tailor the game mechanics to your needs and investment endeavors.

if you invested money in ecto, you should have known there was always a risk involved, with or without perma SF.

Personally, I have 0 sets of FoW armor, about 11k in storage, about 20k worth of items/mats in storage, and my most prestigious weapon is a Colossal Scimitar with pretty good mods, which might be worth 40k on a good day. I am also a perma-SF/Ursan hater.

I personally would like to go through PvE and every once in a while get a gold drop or go through UW and get an ecto drop. I can't tell you how long it's been since either of those have happened. Virtually, the only way I have to make money is trading Balth Faction or RP's for ZKeys, and even those are slowly but surely going down in value, and even at their current value, its not enough for me to outfit all my characters and pay for skills and whatnot, as I have 2 or 3 new characters I'm working on maxing.

Through about my last 100 or so hours of PvE, the best drop I have received is a purple Flatbow, not counting some chest drops. I, personally, attribute this to the continuous wh0ring of all the different farming techniques. I just can't keep up unless I start an Assassin or rank up in Norn, neither of which I have done, as I feel SF/Ursan is more of an exploit than a technique.

tl; dr: I can't really "get over it" as you want me to do, because it is inhibiting my ability to play the game.

If i wasn't a monk, i don't know how i would get into any party for UW or FoW, as my norn rank sucks. Perma SF not only ruins the rich investor's ecto's, but the casual gamer's too. Lets say a casual gamer gets 2 ecto for each of his UW runs (which would take an avg gamer aprox 1.5 hrs).

So SF just took that 1.5 hrs of work, that could have been sold for 10k, and dropped it down to like 7k. So for every 100k they should have made, they can now only sell their ecto for 70k.

SF farming screws over basically EVERYONE except other SF farmers. Even then, other SF farmers cannot sell their goods for as much, as their competition drive their prices down.

No, there was NEVER a risk investing in ecto. There was nothing to change the price, no risks of the market crashing. Then suddenly SF gets buffed and ecto goes from 5.5k each, to 4.1-4.4k as I see CONSTANTLY now in ToA and Kamadan.

Just FYI, there's a big difference in definition between "hasn't been up until now" and "NEVER". Your post is self-contradictory, fenix.

SF in no way shape or form inhibits your ability to play the game.
Getting gold drops is a perk. Not a game breaker.
If you cant get into groups because youre not SF/Ursan find a good guild that does UW w/o them Plenty exist.

WE are the ones tat determine the prices.
The problem isnt the builds being used to farm(which by the way there were Chaos Plains solo builds long before buff to SF) its the farmers themselves that are idiots and sell there ectos to trader which lowers the price.
If people would just stop doing that prices would not fall.
Keep trades between players.
And before anyone says no one buys them so I sell them to trader I sold 47 ectos in about 5 minutes at only 300g below trader price to players.

if not, i can't fathom if it's the lapse of memory or lapse of judgment that prevented your mind from assessing the once 12k+ ecto "value" that deflated its way to the endeared 5.5k that you so zealously defend. is shadow form really the sole catalyst of the gradual market "crash" that's witnessed today?

i wasn't aware of the fact that shadow form, or the assassin profession was available before the dawn of factions and yet...i distinctly remember the steady decrease in ecto "value" prior to that day. maybe you can remember something else to QQ about?

The original price drop was because of duping. Did YOU predict that? No. This one was because of a change to SF when they split PvE and PvP. Did YOU predict that? No. Over the last 3 years, yes, ecto has dropped in price. These changes can be attributed to obvious things. Firstly, 55/SS farming. Secondly, duping. Although the first one was obviously going to occur, duping was not. Neither was SF. No one expected you could farm 10 ecto in 20 minutes.

This isn't about my eggs being in one basket. And again, there was no way to 'smell' this change coming.

I had bulk ecto because ecto (as you will know) is used in virtually every trade in Guild Wars. I am not the only one to have their money in ecto, there are lots of us who have been hit by it.


This comes down to the fact that you can farm SO many ecto SO fast. 10e in 20 minutes, is not supposed to be possible. Considering the importance of ecto in the GW market, there should be something done to fix the farm. It's just too easy to do, and there are far too many ecto being pulled out of UW.
