What do I have to do to make a Shadow Form Toon that can reap the ectos like everyone else?

What chapter do I have to have to make the toon?

I mostly live in Pre-Searing Ascalon so if you need to know something about that I would think about what I know.
Other things I know nothing. Some things I know something and most things are vague.

There is so much about GW that I don't know, and I have been playing since my daughter got it for me for Father's Day 3 years ago. I have played enough with my first character that he has died over 1,600 times.

But I have done no GvG and just enough PvP to find out that I didn't like it. I've never been to FoW or the Underworld. I have 13 avatars, 11 of which are at level 20. There is so much to do in GW; there is no way anyone could be an expert in all of it.

Or maybe it is becuase I'm old as dirt at 53...

If you've got factions and nightfall aswell, then you can do it. Yays.

I reckon by the time you've bought the chapters you need, leveled your new sin, bounced round getting the skills , begged or stolen a sup Shadow rune (not available atm due to everyone making SF Sins) worked out how to use skills to best effect, spent a bit on test / practice runs (losing 1k per attempt) , found the best route to the chaos planes ..............it'll be toooo late - SF will probably have been nerfed - so don't bother : .
Unless of course you fancy going to the pre-update Echo SF A/Mes - which will probably be workable after the SF slap down.

Not that i'm farming like mad myself before the nerf of course, no way indeedy!!

This seems a little doom an gloom. Is Guild Wars 1 anything going to die once GW2 comes out?

I just wanted to earn enough gold - since you can not buy it - to try and fill my hall with stuff. You know weapons, mini's junk for the expansion.

Well I guess that I will not invest the time and continue to play in PreSearing until GW2 comes out. Am I going to be penatalized by not having a full hall. Will I not be able to have the stuff that will transfer to GW2?

Will I have to play GW1 and fill the hall to have the best experience in GW2?

Man I do not know what to do now. Should I get Ursan?

From what most of us know so far, the staff you put into HOM will not get tranfer to GW2 but they will unlock certain something in GW2. Again no one know what that ceratin something is.

Unfortunately "ecto reaping toons" have destroyed the ecto. they are now worth slightly more than a white dye and are 5 times more likely to drop than a white dye.

I gave up my crusade for chaos gloves long ago and began selling my ectos when it came to the point where entering ANY town you will see anywhere from 5-15 people running around with glowy hands.

You should see the stuff that my toon has. Almost no one looks like me. I use the armor that is 80 from the first spot in GWEN boreal station. (spelling) And I have the Norn Shield and the Norn sword.

Cheep cheepo and cheepest.

You can not get better stats and no one looks like me. Try that with 5 million players and 30 million toons

Pay no attention to things like this. Ectos dropping in price only hurts those who have been stockpiling it.

Example: Ectos at 5k.

Farm 45 minutes, get 10 ectos (A good run, and keeps the numbers easy).
You made 50k. 66.6k/Hr

Ectos at 3k.
Farm 45 minutes, get 10 ectos
You made 30k. 39.9k/Hr

You don't make money AS fast , but that's nothing to sneeze at.

The HoM is still an enigma for the most part. However, they've said (and if someone wants to look up the quote, please do) that anything from the HoM, while possibly unique, won't effect you once you've progressed a bit. Basically you may get some cool starter armor, a mini, or possibly a fantastic zero AL hat.

I'm sure you'll be able to fully enjoy GW2 without filling your hall. You certainly won't be penalized.

I am currently on a quest to acquire the "Perfect" Presearing weapon or make one myself.

The sword is 12-16 dmg with 13% more dmg while health is ^50%. I will add to that the Sundering 20/18 and Vrs Charr 18%. my current sword is 10-15 20/18 17%. that I made.

My point is, this thing will cost me much gold so I am farming it. Makes sence right? While I am farming hunter's ale - fastest way to 100K IMHO in presearing - I run from Fort Ranik. There is someone massive spamming there "I need 2K give me 2K". I was like Dude shut up and kill something like the rest of us. He said that he would shut up if I gave him 2K. I said that if he does not shut up I will ask for a ban for spamming.

I get a response from a different person that they already reported this dude. 2K is Way easy to get farming ales. That is 10 runs at Max of 4 min a run he as it in less than an hour.

This goes on for almost an hour. Dude is there again, this time on a different toon. I said look if you would have farmed the ales like I was going to show you then you would have had 2.5K like me.

If these players would just kill something then they would have the gold like everyone else. The sad thing was just before I signed off for the night someone gave this guy 2K to shut him up.

Well it seems like he learned a lesson there..NOT.

I'd suggest you start playing the game without starting to worry about Hall of Monuments, GW2, and GW1 going to die.

Finish Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall, EotN.

After that you can go worry about the money you need to reach your new goals.

It's a game. You are supposed to have fun. You don't need to do anything. (especially not considering the HoM will not give you any tangible advantages in GW2, probably only some new weapon or armor skins.)

Though if you trying to start up a SF-Sin. Good luck and have fun. It's quite enjoyable still.
