question about hero names

you know when you have 2 of the same heroes in your party, they get renamed.(eg. Vekk/Asura Elementalist, Gwen/Vanguard Mesmer)

now what i want to ask is
what happens if there's 3 or 4 of the same hero?
what would their names be?
i'm quite courious to find out

I'm pretty all the "extra copies" get the same generic name. After all there is only 1 Vekk, but there could be hundreds of Asuran Elementalists.

but the whole idea of creating duplicate names were to prevent confusion
if there are 3 Asuran Elementalists, it would be quite confusing still :/

Hm, just adding a little question to the thread, can someone tell me how the system decides which hero will be renamed? I always though the leader's heroes would keep their original names but it proved not to be the case several times.

First one to load is Vekk, the ones that follow are given the generic name. It's not noticeable sometimes, since many people have near-instant loading times, but from experience, that's how it works.

The first person to load gets the name.

I figured there's only on Dunk, the rest are just Sunspear monkies. I don't really see how you can get confused from it either. Why would you have 3 or more of the exact same thing?

If it's confusing just bring different heroes. The absolute most you can have is 4 of the same hero. (4 Humans and each human brings Vekk). Instead just bring Vekk, Zhed, Sousuke and an Asuran Elementalist.


Edit: Hmmm, i guess you could have 6 copies in The Deep and Urgoz. Still enough to avoid the dups if you bring 3 of each. Unless you're bringing 6 mesmers, assassins, rits, dervs or Paragon heroes. In that case confusing names is the least of your problems!

the confusing part is when you all bring ducky and they all look exactly alike (no different armors)....wish they would let us dye them so we could tell them apart somewhat---dont mind the names since I dont do much healing.
the only way I have tried to lighten this confusion when I play with my guildee is hero armor---I picked which heroes got say ancient and asked my guildee not to pick them so we could tell the dang ducks etc apart...

its worse in eye when you havent gotten to the challenge missions yet to change the armors and have like 3 xandras in your party (doing her quest)....and they all look exactly alike!

No, the whole point is that there can only be one Vekk, lore-wise and for cut-scene purposes. The duplicates just don't matter, hence they all share a generic name.

This is why in HoM, even if you only have one Vekk in the party he will be "Asuran Elementalist".
