Ok, I apologize for not havnig computer specs, but this is my nephew's computer, not mine. All I can tell you is it has architectural Auto-CAD loaded and working.
Problem: Using the Nightfall installation CDs, the game will not install. It loads a menu with the option to install, and he presses that button. It then loads the "Connecting to Arenanet...." screen like when I load the game. It gets to roughly the 3/4 mark, and just stops. First time he ran it overnight, and it never moved. Every other time, it has stopped at the same place, and only takes a couple minutes to reach that stopping point. Firewall may be a problem, but I looked it over, and saw no restrictions that would have prevented it. It is a cable modem, so that isn't the issue either. There is over 100 gigs of free Hard Drive space, so it isn't a disk size problem.
Any ideas as to why it is stopping, and how to correct it? I can't figure out how he can get the game installed. Would it be possible for me to transfer my GW folder to his computer to have it run, or would the installation still be required?
Need some ideas on how to fix this. Thanks for anyone who can give me some insight. If you need a specific stat on the computer, let me know, I'll see what I can learn.

check the firewall settings. i had something similar with my laptop, and uninstalling the firewall (zonealarm) fixed it.

the transfer idea is def worth a try. I know the .dat file will be better than the complete dl. as far as the install im not sure if a simple file trans will work.

Run with the -diag switch -
That will run a quick diagnostic, including routing.
Code:
"C:\program files\guild wars\gw.exe" -diag
