Hey Peeps!
My deepest apologies if this has been covered before. >_< I've been googling and searching for a little while, but sometimes I miss things.
Anyways, my darlin's, I've been hunting to see if you can combine a Mesmer's Illusionary Weaponry with some of the Rit's non-elite (obviously) weaponry skills. (Since both spellcasters have builds known to be able to meelee with. (Because I love meelee enchanters... which makes IW Mesmers, Weaponry Rits, and Dervishes awesome in my mind.))
See, I'm figuring it works like this...
16 IW= 42dmg
16 SS= 37 dmg
Therefore, for the most base dmg with one spell, Id want to be a mesmer primary, with 16 in illusion attribute. And then I would use some rit skills, at 12 of their attribute(s), to up the attack dmg even more and for healing. Potentially. But if I need healing or extra attack spells up, then I'd want Rit Primary... Any input?
But there is the problem, one that I've had trouble with. How the heck would I keep my toon alive without using a 55 build or a terra tank build? (What I've seen so far relies heavily on a sin or war second to stay alive, or another elite, which I couldn't use due to IW/SS.) Okay okay, it might not be possible, but I wanted to ask.
Thanks for your time and help!
IW + (Rit) Weapon Spells?

Weapon of aggression but it gets too energy intensive. You'd be better off going /w for flurry or /d for armor of sanctity/conviction and whirling charge

well i was looking around and i found out they dont work. unfortunately. you never hit your target with IW so weapon spells like splinter weapon dont work.

Ah. Bummer. I guess I should have thought of that, since it sounds like Rits do real meelee, and mesmers deal illusionary meelee dmg.
Thanks a ton!

Also don't forget you usually need a cover enchant of some sort to upkeep IW because if it's pulled, you stand there and die for 25 seconds before it recharges.
Also so it's been said, [Spirit's Strength] is WAY better because it adds damage to your actual attack, meaning whatever damage you actually do gets +37 armor ignoring damage added at 16 Spawning.
One last note that I haven't tested but I'm sure is true:

Since your IW attack doesn't actually "hit" I highly doubt any +damage weapon spell adds anything to your attack. Somebody can correct me on that if I'm wrong.
EDIT: LOL people beat me when I make really long responses. Avalri
Wow, thank you for all the information and quick replies. Haha, I guess IW is pretty useless. I just have a thing for mesmers. But maybe Rit will become my new favorite class. Anyway, thanks so much again, everyone!

You're not the only one who enjoys Mesmers and Ritualists...

I'm going to have to direct you to this article about meleecasters from pvxwiki...
http://www.pvxwiki.com/wiki/User:The...ontlining_Monk It is quite the read and pretty much says what I have to say about IW mesmers except for playing it as a gimmick when you're bored to death. Failed concepts fail. I say go with a dervish to be honest... Edit:Avoiding double post and seeing that you did actually read what I first posted, you're going to rely heavily on monks(yes you will be a constant THORN up the @$$ since you need continual prot and healing to minimize the collateral damage you do by running a bad gimmick), drop the superior and go with a minor, get survivors or the (armor+enchanted) insignia, always wear a shield and spec going Me/W to even get a decent amount of armor. Bad builds are bad I am sorry to have to be the one that crushes the dream. Ministry Of Peace
SS + Aura of holy might + high damage scythe attacks + great dwarven weapon from another player + go for the eyes spam from another player = pwnage
