GMA 3100 - Need help pronto!
Banane-O-Man
Well when I was doing Moddok Crevice, i did it all went well and when I finish it, I get zoned to Wehhan Terraces. And poof! I get that driver thing error. I have an intergrated Video Card, I use technical terms so if you want to help me, i'm not a computer "noob". My video card is a GMA 3100 Intel, I would love help to solve this problem. My ritualist is stuck there and i can't do anything

Brianna
Yes, I am aware of that bug, it is very well known with Intel Integrated Graphics chips, but I unfortunately don't know the exact hot fix for it, but I know there is one.. waiting for someone else who knows to stroll along.
If I can remember anything, I will update you.

The GMA 3100 is almost the exact same as the GMA 950, the fix for it can be applied in this case as well.
If you have the option, I would look at a discrete card ASAP. Intel never really released a working driver for this, just some amazingly bad cut and paste work. Later releases can be even worse sometimes.

I have a 1800xt 256mb waiting for me, just need to switch case. Can you please tell me what is the fix for the 950 if it's the same as the 3100.
moriz
if i remember correctly, the GMA 950 did NOT have this problem, at least with low settings.
try turning shaders to low and give it a shot. failing that, use the -noshaders switch in your GW command line to force shaders off.

hmmmmm.... with the 3100 you shouldnt get that i dont think. i know with the 85 something something something you will get that (its on my other computer but i dont know the exact number) i used 3D something. but i dont know if it works with the 3100. oh. btw. integrated cards suck. guild wars isnt supposed to support them
Banane-O-Man
I did the -noshaders and lowerd the graphics, still the same problem...
Banane-O-Man
I still need help

moriz
are you running in directx 8 mode? those areas need dx9, and i'm pretty sure the GMA 3100 supports it.
check if you are using the -dx8 tag. if yes, remove it. also, make sure you have the latest version of dx9 (or dx10 if you have vista) installed.

I have Directx9c but on guild wars it's saying Directx 8, don't know why. I'm not using any tag, i'll try -dx9 tag.
Edit: Tried -dx9 and still same problem

You could log on from another computer, move your Rit somewhere "safe" then just avoid that area until you get your new graphics card.
Is there anyone you can trust who has a PC that you can run GW from? Don't try this from a Net café - thoroughly insecure.

you can also submit a support ticket and a dev will move you.
Lord Sojar
I would be happy to move your rit for you if you need, afterwhich you can of course change your password. My credentials speak for themselves, or have a PlayNC dev move the rit.
Banane-O-Man
I got a friend of mine that moved him, thanks. But I need a way to fix this, it's really getting anoying.

GMA 3100 is definately dx9. GW should be using dx9, not dx8.
can you tell us your exact system specs, as well as any service packs, driver version on the GMA, and the date of your dx9 redistribution?

Is that an old CRT monitor running at 70Hz?
Banane-O-Man
I upgraded the drivers with those 2 things, guild wars still runs on directx 8.
Snograt
The only reason I know of GW running via dx8 is if it is specifically told to do so by running with the -dx8 switch. Very odd.
As a matter of interest, have you tried forcing your monitor to run at 60Hz? Probably nothing to do with it, but who knows
(By the way, there is no -dx9 switch. Dx9 is default, so there is no need for a switch.)

Hmmm so how can I switch it to Directx 9? This is getting on my nervs, not being able to help guild mates thanks to a problem.
moriz
GW should be running dx9 by default. do you have any other games? if yes, do they run in dx9?
the GMA 3100 does support dx9. i have no idea why GW runs in dx8.
as a last resort, you can try 3Danalyzer. google it and download, and run it with these settings:

Removing the -dx8 switch will run GW in DirectX9/10. How exactly do you know GW is running in DirectX8?
moriz
he doesn't use the -dx8 tag. gw is running in dx8 by default for him. you can check it if you go to the graphics tab in your options window.
Banane-O-Man
I run CSS on dx7 lol...
I downloaded 3DAnalyzer, how do I make it to force directx9? Did your settings... (have same problem in domain of fear) I zone there and poof, same problem.

I contacted Intel regarding this issue. According to the tech I spoke with, they have no known issues on this. He is going to look into it for me, but if he can't replicate the issue, then you might have to try some really round about solutions.
Dark Kal
Remove DirectX completely. You can remove it with this tool (never used it myself but it's free) http://www.softpedia.com/get/Securit...adicator.shtml Then reinstall DirectX 9.0c from the microsoft site.
