Do damage reducing armors and runes stack?
For example if I have a piece of knights armor on for its damage reduction, and the rest of my set is my preferred armor and one of those pieces has an absorption rune on it, will I get the benefit of both? ty

Yes, but the extra absorbtion from the rune will only be applied to hits made on the peice of armor it is attached to.

The general consensus is yes, that they do stack.

Think about attribute head-pieces and runes: you get +1 attribute from, say, a death scar pattern for your necro ... and then add a superior rune of death magic to it or another piece of your armor ... voila. +4 attribute.

This is why you often see someone running around with a knights helm, or knights boots, or gloves and the rest of their armor is something else entirely ... and also the reason I wear +15 armor while casting gloves on my mesmer, and an ascalon helmet on my warrior (dressed in Gladiator's everywhere else).

If you want confirmation, go stand in a chaos storm.

(that doesn't sound very nice, does it? I totally don't mean it that way )

Lots of threads about this subject, but here goes:
- 1 piece of knights armor gives global reduction
- that armor + absorption rune stacks

Multiple absorption runes don't stack.

I'd like to see tests of this: i've always heard the contrary ...

EDIT: ok, here goes:

They do not. If you use 2 of the same type of rune, you WILL suffer from both health penalties, however, you will only recieve the larger of the two benefits. So, you only need one absorption (if you're a warrior), and one vigor. Also, the absorption runes are global, meaning that having absorption runes on every piece of armor has the same effect as only having one. Also, the effect of absorption runes stacks with the (also global) effect of Knights/Ascalon armor, for a maximum total possible damage reduction of -10 (-3 from runes, -5 from a shield, and -2 from Knights/Ascalon.)

thanks, I had looked through some threads and it was difficult to find straitforward answers, so I figured Id descibe my setup specifically. btw I believe my knights helm doesnt reduce damage from attacks, correct?
