You can buy it, but you must have a Prophecies, Nightfall and/or Factions to be able to play it.

Then your friend is lying to you, you must have at least 1 of the campaigns to be able to play.

Eye of the north is the only expansion for GW no one can play it without having any of the 3 full games.

He doesn't. I was just there 5 minutes ago playing on it.
I installed it for him.

And, Aren't the campaigns offline?

It's not possible. You are either wrong or confiused. You can argue all you want, but it's not. It's an expansion, not a stand-alone game.

Installation doesn't mean anything. All of the campaigns use the same executable/data. Only the account key matters. If he is playing EotN, he has at least one of the campaigns on his account key.

And no, the campaigns are all online, as is EotN.

So, I have to buy a campaign now?

So, Can I buy one access code? Or do I have to buy two?

And I wasn't arguing, I was asking. And stating what I saw.

No, all play is ONLINE, and Eye of The North is only an expansion, you can not creat a new character there, and all the game play is Lvl 20.

Could you answer my new question?

Yes, you have to buy a campaign. You pay for the access code, as that's mostly all that's in the box anyway.

Don't but it off eBay, as it's a scam. Get it from a reputable retailer. Gamestop, EB, etc.

You can buy prophecies and GW:EN in 1 box, it's about 40 bucks. Not sure how those keys work though.

OR

You can buy them separately, and you will get 1 code for each one you buy.

Shop the sales. I don't know what the games are selling for in your local stores. Check out a few of them and see. I checked Amazon UK and they have Nightfall for 15 pounds.

Just go to GAME. Any of the three chapters for £14.99 plus Eye of the North for £12.99

That's the whole of Guild Wars for less than £58. Or you could buy the box set. For £99.99 ...uh?

That or he saw the login screen and assumed it was only EoTN.

Anyway, you need one of the campaigns(Prophecies, Factions or NF) in order to access EoTN. If you buy then separately, you will get one code for each to add to your account. The GW Platinum edition(which is the Prophecies/EoTN combo pack) though only comes with one key which grants access to both.

If you have 15pounds to spend, just go to an aussie retailers site, buy it off them and you'll get it a third cheaper than the price given because of exchange rates.

Yes, yes you can. That's Prophecies, the first game of the series. A good place for newbies as it has a nice slow learning curve and doesn't overwhelm you with having to kit out heroes (customisable henchmen), you can just concentrate on kitting yourself out!

Ok, So.

I'm going into town to get that tonight.

One more question.

I download Eye Of The North from the Guild Wars website. Why was it free?

Because you're not paying for the client, you're paying for the access keys that allow you to actually play the game.

Ok, So now where can I find JUST a access key?

RPGmaniac

If you went out and bought one of the boxes, there will be an access key in there. The other stuff doesn't really matter, the important thing is an access key.

THIS IS SO CONFUSING!!!

Right so do I need one access key for all the games or does each game come with one?

You buy Prophecies, the original. You can make a Prophecies account, using the key you bought.

You then buy Factions, the second release. You can ADD that to your account using the key you bought.

You now have an account with Prophecies and Factions on. Both of them.

The client (which you downloaded) is free, you can get it anywhere. You pay for the privelage of the account on Anet's servers.

If this is confusing, let me know, I'll try to refine it.
