can you farm?
coolguy69
hey. i quit playing guild wars a few years ago and when i tried coming back i went to go troll farming and when i got them to low health they would run away and come back. Farming was the only thing i enjoyed in this game because the level cap was so low. I tried farming again yesterday and noticed that the trolls would not run away. This got me excited to play guild wars again. then i noticed at the end that there was only 2 drops for the 15 trolls i killed... i was just wondering if you can farm anymore or if all farming spots are like this. my cahr is a warrior monk. also what is hard mode =] thanks guys

If you farm in HM there will be a lot more drops but the scatter effect that you mentioned will be back in effect. Trolls are pretty bad now but there are still a few places a warrior can farm. If you want to read more about HM you can check it out on the wiki.

That farm isnt worht it anymore.
Warriors are not very good solo farmers anymore.
Hulking Stone Elementals in HM outside Sardelec is good for a moderatly fun farm that is fairly prophitible.
If you don't mind boringness, go Ursan.

i also have a 20 ele and a 55 monk if you have anymore tips

a lvl 20 ele can farm raptors which is a pretty okay farm especially when theres a special drop weekend on. 55 monk you might wanna try collasal scimmy farminng in nightfall. Or maybe even IDS farming which can be done by 55 and a ele.

Hehe, troll farming. Ah, those were the days. Let me get you caught up:
A little over a year ago, ANet nerfed farming pretty hard. Mobs scatter now to prevent abuse of spells like Shield of Judgment, and Vengeful was Khanhei, and the drop rate significantly decreased for non-rare items (i.e. standard white items). Correct me if I'm wrong, the drop rate for non-rare items is now equal to as if you were in a full party, which was a huge nerf for solo farmers. The reason they did this was to better balance the line between the "hardcore" players (20% or more being bots) and the casual players. A hardcore player would make a killing doing a normal UW run not just from ecto, but from the merchant-ed white items. Believe me, a lot of people were pissed about these nerfs. The first patch they sent out was to reduce to the drop rate for every item. Within a few hours, user-created threads about threatening to quit the game (on these forums), and a 1000 post and quickly building thread erupted. ANet quickly responded with a second patch to reduce the drop rate only for non-rare items.
You might find that the price of ectoplasm and other rare items has significantly decreased. The cause of this dropped price were the farming nerfs. Trolls in Droks, grawls in Witman's Folly, etc were no longer a viable source of money because of the decreased drop rate of non-rare items. Rare items including ectoplasm, obsidian shards, gold items, were now the primary target for farming. Of course, a well known place at the time to farm for these were places like UW and FOW. All the farmers who weren't already there migrated over toward these areas. For awhile, bots infested ToA, and along with everyone else farming the exact same spot, out comes a price drop. Before you knew it, the price of ecto began dropping 8k...6k...5k... and now a sad 4k.
Aye, there's a little Guild Wars farming history for ye. I guess a good outcome of the nerfs is everything in the game is a lot cheaper. I think 200-300k nowadays is the equivalent of 1 million a few years ago. I personally have hardly touched Guild Wars since these nerfs.
