My friend got GW w/ EotN today. I have a few questions pertaining to the .dat file.

1st question is - Does anyone know how long the "-image" download would take on average? (I'm pretty sure he's using cable internet)

2nd question is - I realize it would be faster for me to copy my .dat on to a dvd and take it to his place and do the 'ol copy & paste. But is this against any part of the eula or any other rules that anet has?

3rd question is - Would it work if I did have him use a copy of my .dat file? I can't see why it wouldn't, but I may be (and probably am) overlooking something.

As usual, any help would be greatyly appreciated.

It's about 3.5Go in size, so an average of 10Mb broadband would give you 1.2Mo/s => 1 hour
(if your line is reliable and can sustain such a big download)

It'll work, no problem.

Sweet, that'll speed things up immensely. I've been trying to get him to play GW since about a month after I bought it when it came out. He's been stuck on Diablo 2 for some god forsaken reason. He got p.o.'ed when they reset the ladder recently and now wants to play GW.

Thank you both for your quick responses!

I've never downloaded from Anet's servers at my capable download speed. For me the download seems limited by their upload rate of around 300-350 Kbps (often trailing off to 80-150Kbps). Someone please comment if you have experienced otherwise.

Otherwise, copy the .dat, it's faster and not against the EULA.
