CoF Self-Sustaining Smiter?
malko050987
Somewhat related to the Cathedral of Fools thread in the Campfire. Everybody there is whining or arguing, and there aren't any who offer alternatives that will satisfy both sides (e.g. give a smiter build that requires as little brainpower as the pvxwiki one and doesn't get the smiter killed).
So... how do you keep your hero smiter alive? Here are a couple of builds, some tested some not, but they SHOULD work.
[retribution][holy wrath][life attunement][vital blessing][signet of devotion][blood is power][blessed signet][purge signet]/[rebirth]
Tested and works great as long as you're careful with your aggro or attack one of the banshees when going against 4 or more.
[retribution][holy wrath][life attunement][vital blessing][healing signet][blessed signet][purge signet][rebirth]
Also tested, and works better than the above build, but requires a little more thought on the part of the 600. Button mashing doesn't work unless you're very patient, since you'll run out of energy and have to wait after each fight.
Something I haven't tested yet, but shouldn't be too hard to achieve.
[retribution][holy wrath][life attunement][vital blessing][ether signet][restful breeze][blessed signet] OR [signet of devotion][rebirth] OR [signet of rejuvenation]
I haven't tested it, but if you micro it, pre-casting restful before aggroing, it should work. Add a Sup Healing rune and at 6 healing prayers it should be enough. Ether Sig is also a good way of making enough energy to cast right after a battle.
A variation on the above would be to drop [life attunement] for [mending], and drop Protection Prayers to 14 (11+3), which should give enough points to get a +3 mending without having a negative impact on the 600 tank. Then you have no need for most of the signets and can go /N for [blood is power] in case of emergency, as well as bring some other random stuff.

I still think ReZDoGG's /Me version with Illusion of Weakness and Signet of Devotion is superior.
Davy
Me/Mo
[signet of illusions][retribution][holy wrath][vital blessing][balthazar's spirit][Illusion of weakness][signet of rejuvenation][rebirth]
16 illusion
12 healing
Maxed my dwarven track in CoF using this on gwen. U lose life attunement but the smiter has an extra slot. Life att is overkill anyways.

It probably is, but I haven't seen it anywhere
Strangely enough, I haven't considered using Gwen as a bonder, but that's mostly because I don't have any runes on my monk's Gwen. That build looks awesome.

I used to bond for guildies using my mesmer, although it was back before the change to RoD, it works great and mesmer runes are cheaper than monk runes.

Here are some builds I posted for Smiting to use with a 600hp Monk:
Smiter Builds for 600hp Monk:
Mesmer/Mo for Smiter
[build prof=me/mo ill=12+3+1 heal=12 ins=3+1 box][Signet of Illusions][Signet of Rejuvenation][Ether Signet][Vital Blessing][Life Attunement][Retribution][Holy Wrath][Illusion of Weakness][/build]
Mo/Me Smiter: Cast Life Sheath just before you aggro a group with Banshees to help keep him alive easier, this should be the safest to go with.
[build prof=mo/me Smi=11+3 Pro=11+1 Div=6+1 ill=8 box][Life Sheath][signet of devotion][blessed signet][vital blessing][life attunement][retribution][holy wrath][illusion of weakness][/build]
============================================
Life Attunement can be replaced with anything useful such as [Succor] or [Purifying Veil]. If you need to, you can also put in [rebirth]. Some people like to drop out Life Attunement as it may not always be needed, depending on the enemies you are going against.
============================================
These builds do sacrific Rebirth, but there will be no need for anyone in the party to take heals for the Smiter. People would rather take Rebirth and chill out during the run instead of Healing, not to meantion alot of people take Rebirth anyways during Dungeon runs. You can also switch out Life Attunement for something else, such as Rebirth if you need to, or anything else that can useful.
This was also posted in the Cathedral of Fools Thread. Thing is, not many will see them there and I don't think I should make a new thread just for these builds, so I just kinda let the idea float around. I also have a Mo/Me CoF Smiter Alternative build for using 600hp Rt/Mo Vengeful Spirit Bonder. So depending if you use Rit or Monk, they will all work good to keep Smiter alive. I personally like using Rt/Mo with Pain Inverter and LoD, it is alot faster than 600hp Monk, and can kill those pesky warriors and monks no problem. Only problem with Rt/Mo is taking on the Spiders, which is possible to do without dying, once you learn how to deal with them, but always a chance of being interrupted.

How do you guys keep up Holy Wrath?
malko050987
Uhm... you cast it and it stays up? It won't end if you run out of energy You just stay at 0 energy. That's why [Blessed Signet] and/or [Ether Signet] are used.
TechnoSword
I just have my smiter cast vital blessing on himself, and he has sup vigor and full survivor insignias on. hes never hurt too bad and doesnt need any heals

I would drop Life Attunement altogether. It is a waste of a skill slot. Move Balth Spirit from the 600 to the smiter and you now have an open slot on the 600 to do with what you please. You now have a 2e regen instead of 1e on the 600. This makes the Mo/W smiter more viable because you aren't dependent on a BiP

[Succor] could be a decent replacement with Mo/Me as Smiter, or just throw in Rebirth if you really really need it... even though other players can take Rebirth for you, which they won't mind, should give you a free slot to fill in with whatever... You can also have some people take [Sunspear Rebirth Signet] if they have it, it would be good to use before needing Rebirth. It will give you full health plus atleast half energy depending on ones Sunspear rank, which can speed up the process of getting set up again after dying.

I will give you that you can put Succor on the smiter to put on the 600... but over all if you did that instead of moving Balth from the 600 to the smiter you essentially are gaining 1 health regen on the smiter.
Succor: 7 enchants... no open slot on the 600... 2e regen and 1 health regen
Moving Balth: 6 enchants... on open slot on the 600... 2e regen
With the Mo/W I have 2 open slots on the smiter: Balth Spirit, Holy Wrath, Retribution, Vital Blessing, Heal Sig, Rebirth. Nothing else is needed unless you have a human running it and you want to bring Light of Deldrimor. In that case bringing Blessed Sig and LoD.

Kind of related. The only enchantment my 600 carries when I run in FoW is Blessed Aura. I make the person who smites for me drop Life Attunement for Balthazar's Spirit because Life Attunement really is a waste of a skill. 3 energy regen ftw.

I still like to have the extra energy from Essence Bond. I have tried 600ing without it and I just like the extra energy from being hit.

These are the builds i used to use when i ran CoF, which i don't anymore cuz its more of a hassle than a good experience.
600 tank: OwUTMsHD3peoFvrREhg8AgYCAA
Tahlkora: OwYT44HDnJkQPyH4DkxYUmkSAA
Spirit Shackles>Frenzy; Channeling>Essence, Life Sheath>BiP (for those runnies who die to flame traps cuz they go on 55 armor)
I don't ever really need channeling, but it was the only skill i could find that seemed worth while to run on me. sumtimes ill bring rebirth so i can rez ppl who die n such, or if u really want to u can bring arcane echo and go perma sb for shits n giggles i suppose.
The best time i have gotten with that build was 24mins. u can aggro as many things as u want n not die, given u know how to chain sb+soa, and know how to avoid interrupts (spamming sb ftw!!!! :P)
please direct questions to: I Wiggle I in game due to the fact that i hardly get on here unless im really really bored, or u can pm me on here n mayb u might get an answer in a few days
gl n hf w/ ur mindless runs thru the temple //_-
