Is guild wars still worth starting to play?
Alazardragoon
sup guys I had guild wars back in 2006. I had Factions and prophecies. I didnt like proph at all, So I didnt really play it. But I loved Factions and Ritualist. It was really cool looking class and fun to play. Im wondering if I should buy the games again, Because Im so sick of playing so many cruddy Free 2 play Korean Grind fests.
I wanna know if its wroth it to come back right now at this time in 2008. I know Guild wars 2 is only less than a year away. And I'm not sure if its wroth it for me to start all over again. I sold my old discs and account to my friend in real life who actually lost it without ever using it hahaha.
But yeah will I have enough time to have fun in guild wars and clear the story before Guild wars 2 comes out?
One thing i did hate about guild wars is the lack of dungeon adventures did they add that yet?

Yeah, I'd say it's worth another shot, personally. There have been a lot of new features added since 2006, some for the better, some for the worse, but overall I'd say Guild Wars is still a pretty fresh game. By the way, GW2 is still probably at least a year away. In fact, I'd be pretty surprised if they got into beta testing by the end of this year (probably last day of December, knowing anet). You've still got PLENTY of time to get back into the swing of things.

I've only just joined about a month ago, I only have NF at the moment and i'd say its still worth getting back into. They added more dungeons through the Eye of the North expansion (not standalone) so that answers that. I'd get it if i was you it's a great game to play and its cheap if you buy it form game.co.uk

It's still just as fun as it was back then. Come on ovah!
In terms of "dungeons", you should pick up GW:EN. It's got a crud load of them.

You mean, GW2 is a little less than 2 years away..
But anyway, the game is the same as it was in 2006. But oh yeah there is now Ursan and improved Perm SF sin and whatnot.. so the best bet is to get Eye Of The North, do some dungeons... get Ursan and live happily ever after.

Worth playing just not as much fun as it used to be.

Well im sure its still better than spending my money on 20% xp boost for some Free 2 play korean grind fest, Im off to the store to buy The Prophecies & Eye of the north bundle.
Bryant Again
I'd check prices first, yo. I think both GW:EN and Proph are dirt cheap these days separately. Unless you can find the bundle for 20 bucks, I'd go with individual purchases (I'm seeing both around here for 10 bucks each in the US).
Alazardragoon
Where did you see that !?!
Bryant Again
Target, EBGames, and Best Buy, baby.

there is still plenty of time to play....since the game has only been out for 3 years..another 2 would be almost as long as its been out!
Cant say whether you will enjoy it or not, but if you look for a great guild you might have more fun (if thats your bag----).
either way welcome back!

Well in my opinion it is worth it. Also you might not need to buy all of it again. If your friend never played it I doubt that he changed the password on the account. You dont need the cd keys because they are tied to the account. Try to use your old email address and the password that you had on it. Also you can download the client from guildwars site. You might only need to buy EOTN and Nightfall if you wanted to. You might just want to catch up on Factions and phrophecies.

Yes, if you haven't played through it all yet. With the understanding that you've missed out on all the REALLY good stuff.
Still a fun game though while you're still new to things.

I just started playing this past December and have all the games now. You can get most of the games for ~15 bucks if you shop around and arent in a rush Its a Great Game!! Go for it!!

I'd say it's still worth playing ^^.
I just don't enjoy it as much as I used to xP

Wow you can find em cheap now! Lack of demand here means Prop, NF and Fact. are still going for around NZ$60
Lots of dungeon action in Eye of the North, i think theres 18? Everything from killing wurms through to slaying snowmen! Guild Wars may have changed a bit fromwhat you're used to, but im sure you'll settle back in nicely. Welcome back to the family mate

If any MMO is still worth starting, GW is definitely still worth starting.

After the HoM update, it will.

Not really. GW is damn boring atm. Too bad good old days are far away now
Alazardragoon
lol so most people think that it is and 1 person does not. Im glad I got it then. I got Factions and Eye of the north for now. thats enough. Since the only class I liked Was Assassin and Ritualist when I used to have all 3 I only played Factions, I had a Paragon at 20 but didnt like the story or the class much. Just happy I got back into the game, Brings back good memories and fun times

Do it. Despite what you may hear from whiney "veterans" around here a lot, there's a LOT of content in Guild Wars. The best thing is you can choose what you want to do and do it at any time. It's a really versatile game... depending on my mood I can feel like I'm playing a whole different game if I switch goals for a week or two.
