Bring Back 6v6 HA
Kanyatta
Thread title says it all. Anyone else remember this?
To me, it was really the only time HA was fun. There was the most balance since the beginning of the game, and there is no other 6v6 Arena in the game. We already have 4v4 in RA/TA and 8v8 in GvG and 12v12 in AB/FA/JQ.
This suggestion isn't really "change it to 6v6 NAO!!!" I'd just like to see a 6v6 HA weekend sometime, then see how the community likes it. If not, OK, if the community in general likes it, I think it would be great to see it reverted.

I don't think ANET is prepared to make anymore drastic changes to the game, especially now with Diablo 3 coming out. This is because the 6v6 will initially be imbalanced, and continue to be imbalanced for a couple of months. This will make even more people shade away from PvP {imo}

If you really think 6v6 is better, you most definatly didn't play during the beginning of GW. (Before it even was 6v6)
There will always be imbalanced build. Heck, EVERY build that works is imbalanced. Beginnign of HA (Tombs) was fairly balanced, due to the fact that NOONE knew about skill synergies. If you gave the people Shock + Warrior (It was Gale tough, in the very beginning), they couldn't figure out the Shock/Axe build.
The older a game gets, the more features that will get abused. It's Anet's job to keep these "features" -in GW, you can define these as builds- on par with eachother.
It's not a question of bringing back 6v6 to balance the game. It's a question of actually balancing the game.
Offcorse, there is some factors that make balancing quite hard. Fire AoE is, on it's own, not that overpowered. However, when U add the conditions of Cap Points, where you have 8+ people balled within NEARBY radius (And it's not even a choice, you HAVE to be there to win, so you HAVE to tank the AoE), 1 Fire Spell does up to (I will quickly calculate DPS for Searing Heat):
38 * 5 * 8 + 14 * 3 * 8 (3 seconds of Burning) = 1856 Damage.
Devide that by the amount of seconds, including cast time for this one, you get 265 DPS.
There is no need to go back to 6v6 to make the game more balanced. Removing Capture Points and Relic Run WILL make the balance job ALOT easier tough. During Old-School holding, there only was 1 aspect to reckon with when balancing skills: WHAT is the holding power?
No worying about AoE, about snares, about speed buffs, this' and that's.

Every build is imbalanced?
Moron much?
As for the OP:
I never played Ha when it was 6v6, but what're your arguments for bringing it back?
I've started to see a lot of these "bring back 6v6" threads lately.

theres allready a 8vs8 format.
HA in its present format has no point in existing.(might aswell remove it)
cos as far as 8vs8 format goes....GvG is clearly better suited.
HA is just fame farming...if that emote was removed noone would bother playin it....cos as a gaming format its a clear failure.

Anyway... short answer is NO, definately no, not even for a temporary weekend. By making something temporary or limited, a.net will get higher then expected results which schew their research, making them think 6v6 is more popular then it really is. That is why we were stuck with 6v6 in the first place, they coupled it with a double fame weekend, saw the increase in participation and though "ohh people like this" when really they just liked the doulbe fame and the shake up to the meta. When 6v6 became stall and people figured out the meta, it was much worse then 8v8 because it had less room for creativity and development of new builds.
6v6 removed the ability to create finesce builds. Teams didn't have room for shutdown characters, and often ended up being 2 or 3 healers and 4 or 3 offensive characters. Searing Flames and SH teams were all the rage and were completely skillless to run. The game becomes who can nuke the other fastest, and had very little to do with developing coherient synergetic builds. You might as well just throw in an Ursan Arena and call it a day.

Why not just make a separate 6v6 arena? For those of us too lazy to get an 8 person party.
Age
I would prefer a 8vs8 party in HA as it was alway this way in ToPK formerlly the HoH.The only way to have a decent 6vs6 is the holy trinity 2 Wars,2 Eles and 2 Monks.

If you think 6v6 was the most fun, you didn't play Tombs before Anet ruined it. 6v6 was silly, because there were far more overpowered builds. That, and a 6v6 arena is a bad idea anyway. If anything, Anet should revert HA to Tombs.

Anet has to balance the game before they change the arenas.

I did play Tombs back before it became HA, but it was really few and far between, since I was still new to the game, and RPG's in general and just playing through PvE. I'm not really the best source of info on the 3 year old fame/rank scene.
Yeah, 6v6, 90% of teams ran holding builds, but when Paragons basically took a bullet to the head with the Incoming! nerf, I don't think we'd see that again too soon.
Maybe what I'm looking for isn't balanced HA? Maybe I'm just looking for something with a little novelty to it.

Scrubs like me did waaay better in 6v6, because half-decent players quit wasting their time there. I remember beating a halls holding guild with an unranked randomway pug at the time. (No it wasn't a gank.)
Despite HA's "dead" state, it's nowhere near that easy now, which means some semi-skilled people are playing since 8v8 returned.
