Pop-up at birthday of a char
N1ghtstalker
Hi,
so i thought about this and there is actually no warning when one of your chars had his birthday
my friend found out about his char's birthday after a few month's (he didn't play it anymore)
so i propose a small pop up screen when one of your char's is having his birthday so you can check out your present

Isn't the present a pop-up that you've had you're birthday?
Something on the login screen would be nice. But I don't know how it would work, the programming involved and how difficult it would be or anything.

If you aren't playing, you won't notice, but since you are not playing, why bother?
Write down the birthdays of your characters if you can't learn them by heart, or just cycle through them all once in a month.
I see no need for this update, /unsigned

/age works; and yh if you aren't playing it you probs won't care about the b-day anyway xD.

If your not playing a char enough to know when their b-day is, IMO you shouldnt get a present...mini leeching FTL

Won't be just easier to show the birth date in the login screen under the character name?

yes birthDATE on the log in would be nice----instead of me going to a character that is close everyday for most of the final month before it POPS!
I did try to keep a spreadsheet with this info (and lots of other stuff as well) but my mules creation dates arent very close (like one I remember doing sometime during the summer----which I got down to sometime in july....she will be popping soon----I hope---I have been checking daily----).
yes I am one of those with LOTS of characters 15 I play and just about as many mules.....its gets hard to remember more than 20 birthdays!

If you actually cared about the minipet, wouldn't you log on to check? Using "he has too many chars" or "he forgot" is just an excuse for carelessness, and Anet shouldn't have to do extra work if even the players themselves don't care much.

Of all the things GW needs this goes right to the bottom of the stack, no wait, this goes in the trash can next to that stack.
I agree with Divine 100% if you don't bother checking why should ANet bother to tell you, stop being lazy.
Nex you'll say "I'm too lazy to do the quests to get FoW so the forgemaster should just stay unlocked after doing the quest once, after all I did all that work spamming that I was buying ecto, why should I have to play the game and earn the forgemaster?"

Thanks,

It seriously takes 5 minutes once a month to scroll through all of your characters and /age them. I have 14 in-use slots.
pamelf
/unsigned for that, but /signed for being more specific in the /age command. I'd like to know how many days...
Tender Wolf
I do see your point, but it's really not that big of a hassle to just type /age or check your inventory for a present. It would be nice to know the exact date of a character's birthday, but as was previously mentioned, just write it down. That's what I've been doing and it's worked fine. But I'll go ahead and /sign.

For people with slower systems/connections... it can take a long time to check all your characters... and just a little indicator on the character select screen wouldn't be THAT hard to program.

Lady Lozza
Having an age, or a birthday on the log-in screen wouldn't be so bad.

Nice little idea that doesn't harm anyone.

both options are good, as long as we can know the date.
I play for less than a year so i dont have any clue when the birthdays are.

I'd /sign for something nice, like a small (1-2 min) personal fireworks show (like when you do a crate of fireworks) on your birthday, simply because it wouldn't be that hard to code, and it would be cool. It would activate automatically upon login for that character, in whichever town/outpost they were in when they logged in, instead of only in the guild hall. It would end when the character left the town/outpost.
But it wouldn't give any Party Animal points, just the eye candy.
