GW2: Are they Really Removing Click to Move???
Trinity Fire Angel
I read that they are removing Click to Move for GW2.... i can;t see how anyone can monk properly if they don;t use click to move... i mean.. some people use WASD to move, but this gets in the way of my skills....
i find that click to move is faster than using a keyboard to move as you are right there in the interface rather than lagging down a keyboard command to move. since i started using click to move i no longer get hit by people i have already evaded on my computer screen yet have lagged 500ms back on the server where i do get hit.
plus, click to move makes it easier to heal so that you click to move, click on a team mate name and then cast spells...
anyway... is it true? and how can we convince them otherwise that click to move removal is bad for the game....

I haven't heard, but that would really suck.

They did say click to move was going.
Whether this was to warn us the game control was changing for certain in gw2 or to test the waters about such a change I wouldn't know.
I thought it was maybe getting ready for a consol version where input would be via gamepad.
Maybe you could edit this thread to make it a poll asking who wants point to click to stay
Unless such a thread already excists in which case you will soon be told lol

They've said that you'll be able to interact with your environment more, with actions such as jumping. If you think about it in that context, it may be not that they're getting rid of click to move not because its a feature they think is inappropriate, but rather because it is either infeasible or inefficient in moving in such an environment. This idea is further supported by the fact that they said that the conditions under which you activate a skill (e.g., if you are jumping) may affect its purpose. Lastly, though it has nothing to do with click-to-move, we don't even know if there is going to be a monk class in gw2, and even if there is, it will probably be radically different from the one that exists right now.

I wouldn't mind too much if you were allowed to jump over other players. Because that would be a disaster for bodyblocking.

Thank god im not getting GW2, its already hard enough to find a tank thats smart enough to catch aggro on corners and hold it, let alone having something jump over your tank and come at your party, and click to move is going, OMFG GG anet, people defend your company when i say u guys are completely retarded, but you guys just prove my point, i mean take an Honest look at Tomb Raider, i mean that game was one of the most poular games, and right around revelations(where controls were being chnaged and what not) the games sales were so poor, Chronicles didnt even make it to platinum, Angel of Darkness wost voted wortse game for PS2 in 2000, and Legends sales were so poor there will be no ressurection for the Tmb Raider Saga, honestly A-Net, i thought you guys would have been smart enough to take a look and see how bad the nerfs effected ur game and how little players u guys have compared to Pre Nerfing, i really do see the GW2 community being dead if u have a whole new control concept, and honestly if they removed Proffessions such as Monk it would destroy what GW was all about, i dont see why A-Net cant just make another damn RPG/MMO to add there extra 'FUN' stuff to, theres those of us who like the concept of GW compared to WoW and the more and more i hear about GW2 the more and more im hearing its turning into WoW, i might aswell go buy WoW, atleast i know the community pool will stay big, GG Anet GG

so GW=Tomb Raider now? I'm confused. Kinda also confused on why you are complaining straight up about a game, on it's own forum. make a useful post please, instead of trying to tear down the entire game.
Anyways, maybe the mouse will be used to interact in the environment in other ways (ie, instead of clicking on objects and then having the object activate, possibly there is more interaction, and having point to click would screw that up?") and thus point to click would be obsolete.

And the point I was trying to make was maybe Anet has a good reason for taking out the point to click system that is in place in Guild Wars. Maybe the environment around you is full of interactivity, and having a click to walk system would ruin that.
Oh, and by the way, I realized that you misspelled Declaration and Independence, so I recommend that you take your grievances someplace else instead of throwing them at me, but I wouldn't expect you to know what I am talking about, because let's face it: I'm a chimp.

and as for being a whole new game why not make a whole new game and keep on extending GW1 instead of Jumping to GW2, why dont they call the new game "We wanna be like WoW", NUFF SAID

Honestly, I don't see the big deal. I find clicking to move less efficient than the classic WASD, but that is just a preference I suppose. I've played a bit of AoC, which has no clicking to move, and find it much better.
From the little we have been told about GW2 I think it's too soon to make any type of judgements on how it will turn out. I can understand situations in GW1 where clicking would be preferable, but there could be numerous complications for a system like that in GW2 that we have no idea of. hurdlebeast might be correct in that the interaction with the environment won't allow clicking to move. There could be entire new systems for party targeting, skill key placement/usage, or anything else. Personally I will be waiting for more information on the game systems and mechanics before I make any brash judgements.
I think he was mostly trying to point out the audacity you have to call someone a chimp when you type worse than one and make bold, ignorant statements.
I have read the Declaration of Independence before, and at no point does it mention freedom of speech. I think you are refering to the U.S. Constitution. You know, the First Amendment in the Bill of Rights. The Declaration of Independence reminds of the Guru community at the moment, it's just a bunch of people sitting around complaining.
Where do you come up with some of your reasoning Azza? Has Anet mention anything about classes, or the removal of them? If they have then I've missed it. Since you have such an obvious dislike of GW2, while knowing next to nothing about it (and next to nothing about a few other things as it seems), why bother reading threads about it? Or posting in them?

GW2 isn't even close to being out yet. Yes... a.net did say they are removing click to move but it is WAY to early to judge if that matters or if that is definitive. How can you say it will be impossible to monk/nuke/whatever without click to move if you know NOTHING about the skill system and the game's interface yet?
The syndicate to stop making GW2 threads disapproves of this topic.
PS. As a law student... I have to point out that the First Ammendment only prohibits the federal government (and due to the 13th ammendment's incorporation clause) or the state governement from infringing on your freedoms. We... as private citizens can still tell people to STFU at any time... as *cough* part of our "freedom of speech."

As off now no one has 100% info on GW2, all we have is just something that's been told to us by Anet since the time before Eotn released. No need to get bum rush over nothing.
As for freedom of speech in the forum go and read this:

This is Inde's place, not your backyard. Take it outside.

They have said it's going, but the game will work differently. Lets give them a chance to show us what GW2 will do and how it operates before we worry about things like this. With GW2's system it may in face become redundant to click to move....

I'm closing this thread before it degenerates even further.
A) We don't know anything about GW2, so can't answer this.
B) This is not the place to argue about bill of rights, Freedom of Speech, etc.
