FPS Troubles
MrGuildBoi
Okay, so in Kaineng, the crowded town, I have about 30-50ish FPS. But in the areas I circled in the attachment I have about 10-13. What's causing this? I have low fps in non-crowded areas but high fps is crowded areas . Heck, I even run 30 fps in Crysis with settings on High and 60fps on TF2
I have a nVidia GeForce 8800GT with latest video card driver, 4gigs of ram, Intel Core 2 Quad CPU, Windows XP w/ Service Pack 2. If you need to know anymore information, ask. I already tried running GW on 1 core.

Server ping is doing this.
I run usually 45FPS H/H but around 15 with people.
I'm using a 3850 Radon card.

^ No, server ping doesn't effect frames as far as I know.
So, anyone know the problem? I checked systemrequirementslab. All my specs are recommended to the max. :\ I have also used Ad-Aware, defragged, CCleaner, and Spybot - Search and Destroy.

Sure.
In busy areas, the GPU is having to do a lot more work rendering all those individual characters - it's as simple as that, and it happens to all of us. On my SLI 8800GTX rig, frame rates drop like crap in Kaineng and Spamadan. An annoyance we have to live with.

Uhm, but I have high fps in Kaineng and Kamadan. In my attachment I get low fps in those areas where its barely crowded and in non-crowded areas I even stand still to let it render, my fps stays 10-14 until I go somewhere else.

Do you have the latest DirectX and latest drivers for your GPU? At what settings are you playing GW? Could be the rendering of the background. Try setting graphic settings to a minimum then gradually increase each setting to see which setting is causing your low FPS.
Snograt
Bah, posting at 7am for the loss. My bad.
That's really weird. Just those two areas in one outpost. Totally bizarre...
Must have a wander down there myself to see if there's anything particularly intricate in the background in those areas being rendered. How does your system cope with Rata Sum, possibly the biggest GPU strainer in the game?

It's an exploreable area not an outpost, get some coffee Snograt.

So, I went fighting to the place where I lagged (and changed some settings around) see attachment
Changed Terrain to Low from High: +1 fps.
Changed Reflections to Terrain and Sky from All: +11 (yes 11) fps
Changed Texture Quality to Low from High: +0 fps
Changed Texture Quality back to High from Low: -/+ 0 fps.
Changed Shadow Quality to High from Medium: -1 fps
Changed Shadow Quality back to Medium from High: +1 fps
Changed Terrain quality between High and Medium: -/+ 0 fps

in really crowded areas like ascalon city my fps drops to maybe 100 but usually stays above 120 everywhere else and in exploration areas peaks at around 240 fps.

GW is the only game I know where minimum specifications differ depending on which area you're in.

you have a 8800GT. the specs change won't matter to you.
across 4 GW games, not only the specs have gone up... it also went from being a DX8.1 game in prophecies and factions, to a dx9.0c game in EotN. that's a pretty big jump in requirements.

You have a corrupt BIOS. Flash a new BIOS to your motherboard. If that doesn't fix it, you will need to flash a new vBIOS to your GPU. If that doesn't fix it, then your card is damaged and will need replacement. That is the only explanation for poor texture renders.
