hello all. Yesterday i made my first NF character, after having the game pretty much since it came out. My question is, after doing all the side quests that give you 5 SS points each, is there any way to reach first spear/level 12 faster than farming for points? I mean it's getting kinda boring, I've played through the game before on other characters so i know the missions and such, but they were proph/factions chars and so not as much grinding was needed, if at all, to get them through to the main missions and consequently, moving the story along.

Basically what I am asking is, is there a way to level up quicker? Because as of right now, i've been playing for about 10 hours and am only level 8, and it kinda sucks. Side note: I'm trying to make this char survivor, but if there is a death leveling in NF or anything i don't know about, please let me know.

Thanks in advance everyone.

My first NF was slow too.

Basically the best I can suggest to you is (assuming you have EOTN), level to level 10 by killing things, then head to eye of the north and go to gunnar's hold.

I do it for about every character I make now. Regardless if I'm going for survivor. Killroy's punchout takes about no time at all to get you from 10 to 20.

Or you can get a ferry to Factions and take up the quests there. They're absolutely great xp. Just flag your heroes/henchies into battle while you sit in back if you're going for survivor. That or have one of your heroes be a bonder monk. Life barrier -> Life Bond -> Vital Blessing -> Life attunement. That's how I finally made it through everything on my own as survivor. I almost never got attacked due to my high HP and almost never had a party death thanks to me bonding the healer and spirit henchies as well.

That's why I did with my para. Just left NF and went to Factions for a while and came back when I was level 20.

I use lots of shrine bounties for double xp. You'll get the SS ranks for the +15 attribute point quests before you reach character level 10. I did it in 7 hours game time without using xp scrolls.

Basically, while low level, stay outside of kamadan and get all the shrine bounties. 1st get the plant bounty and only kill plants. Then get the insect bounty and only kill insects. Do it while you're low level so you get double xp for easy targets.

When you get to lvl 6, go to champions dawn and do the same thing to the west of there. If you're going for survivor take a bow and let the henchies kill the lvl10 ibogas. There are also easy quests to the north of champions dawn near astralarium

I would say: Ferry to docks->ferry to LA-> do the d'allessio tvling trick up to 10-> EotN and kilroys to 20. Go back, and kill some bugs in HM for easy SS points to pick up the extra 30 att points.

ah that sounds good. i'm lvl 8 now, i might just grind to ten and go kilroy's then come back later. thanks for the tips guys, i do wish Anet would make it easier to level in NF, but meh, small inconvenience.

I really didn't have a problem leveling in NF. Just take all the shrine bonuses and kill all the enemies you come across. If you do all the quests, you'll have to go past most of the monsters anyway. I might suggest, for the least grind, taking the Insect Bounty outside Sunspear Great Hall and clear out all the bugs on Plains of Jarin. Plenty of experience and SS points too.

what i did was first of all take the quest from the merchant (material Girl) and the other one from the weopons guy and go to sunspear hall...on the way kill all you can using bounties (got up to second spear doing that) then when you talk to the guy inside the hall (for the weopens quest) it adds a ton of insects outside (plus u have tons of plants from the material girl quest

then i just went outside again amd took both bounties and cleared out the whole place only took a couple of hours: after getting the rank rewards i went to LA to get Olias and KC to get zenmai...by tht time and after doing a few 500XP quests i was level 10 then i went strait to kilroys

Level 20, Kilroy'd it and got the survivor title to boot (yes, I know it's pointless now with everyone doing it, but i like it ). Trying to get skills now as we speak, and get through NF a bit, and generally play the game now . thanks for all the help guys, monk is still enjoyable as ever. gotta love the red 0's everywhere thanks to life bond

Last char I started NF I did all quests I could find, then farmed for a very short amount of time to finish it off, if you do all quests that give points doesn't take very long.
