Changing E-mail question

I've lost access to my previous e-mail. I was wondering if I changed the e-mail, is there a way to not send a confirmation to the previous e-mail and if I did change the e-mail, the confirmation letter to my previous e-mail will not be accepted, what will happened?

I believe you have to wait a week without confirmation from the old e-mail for the new e-mail to take effect.

edit: Now that i think about it, that sounds wrong... but i know it's something like that.

I'm pretty sure Gift3d is right on this one, actually. That happened to me and I'm pretty sure I had a one week time period where I still had to use the old email as my login.
